PUGGLES

Puggle dogs are a breed between a beagle and a pug. These dogs have a smooth, short haired coat that can be tan, white, black and sometimes even tri-coloured. They have a thick body, short legs, floppy ears and a curly tail. Their longer body, slightly increased size, floppy ears, and longer snout make them resemble a beagle but their curly tail, pushed in face and black mask make them look like a pug. They weigh around 15-30 pounds and are roughly 13-15 inches high from the shoulders.

Puggles are very well tempered, affectionate, playful, intelligent and social. They get along well with children and house pets. Puggles are low in maintenance care and all they need is an occasional bath, ear cleaning and toenail clipping. They have a lot of energy and love to play, go for walks, and just run around. Puggles also love to be cuddled and are not hypo-allergenic. They do shed but because of their size they do not shed a whole lot.

Puggles are fairly easy to train and can learn all the basic commands. They are good learners and like to please you. They’re also smart and small enough to use a kitty litter. They have long legs, less pronounced wrinkles and more room in there skulls for their eyes. With these attributes they tend to have less problems with eyes, joints, and skin wrinkles common to pugs. The long nasal cavity makes puggles less susceptible to heatstroke then the pug but if they have the tendency to run fast and far, like a beagle, it could become a problem.

A common eye infection for the puggle is cherry eye. Cherry eye is the term used for when the third eyelid prolapses and becomes visible. This can look like a mass in the corner of the dogs eye but is not a tumor. The eye can become inflamed causing their tear ducts to become blocked. The dogs eye could dry out because of this. The best treatment for this is surgery and they will remove the gland in worse case scenarios.

No major kennel club think of puggles as an actual breed but many dog sports allow half breeds, such as puggles, to participate. There are also a breed of dogs called the pocket puggle. They are bred from a small pug and beagle. They have the same quality traits only they are 10 pounds lighter then puggles at maturity.

At this point, it is common knowledge that all breeds of dogs, including Puggles, reduce stress. Stress reduction is the key to good health. After you get your Puggle, get exclusive health insurance leads and see the money you have saved by lowering your stress. Thanks Puggle!
