A Windy Day

A WINDY DAY written by Debbie Williamson A very long time ago A wild, wild wind did blow It blew so hard, that on that day It blew my little house away I chased and chased after it And I found it in a tar pit Oh, my house was in one fine mess Never had I seen such ugliness With windows shattered and curtains tattered I sat and cried while the wind still battered Round and round and round it came Leaving nothing in its path the same Over hills and mountains it blew Heading straight for the county zoo It blew the stripes off a zebra that day And took the poor monkey's bananas away The wind blew strong and with such a rage That it opened up the lions cage The lion roared and started to run The wind was having so much fun It found its way across … Read entire article »

Applesauce

APPLESAUCE written by Debbie Williamson "Oh, it is such a beautiful morning!" exclaimed Ma. Ma stood at the kitchen counter looking out the window. It was autumn and the leaves had just started to change colour. "You know, Ma," said Pa. "I've got a whole bushel of apples down in the root cellar. How would you like to make some of your famous applesauce?" "Oh Pa," Ma sighed. "I just made a big batch last week. Don't you think that we have enough for this winter?" "We might," said Pa, smiling. "Alright Pa," said Ma. "What the devil are you up to?" "Well," said Pa. "I took a jar of your famous applesauce down to the general store yesterday. Mr. Foster loved it so much that he has placed an order for fifty jars of it." "Fifty jars!" exclaimed … Read entire article »

Arrow’s Autumn Adventure

ARROW'S AUTUMN ADVENTURE written by Debbie Williamson "Arrow," said Mommy. "What are you doing?" Arrow sat on the end of Mommy's bed with his leash and harness in his mouth. Mommy took a look at him and laughed. "Arrow," said Mommy. "If you think I am taking you outside at six am in the morning, you are silly." Arrow just sat and shook his furry little head. He didn't care what time it was. He wanted to go outside and play. Arrow is a one and a half year old cat who does not go outside by himself. Where him and Mommy used to live, there were coyotes in the mountains across the street. Mommy did not want to take the chance that Arrow would get eaten by a coyote so she trained him on … Read entire article »

Autumn

AUTUMN written by Debbie Williamson “Dress warm!” exclaimed Troll Mother. “I am,” said Troll Brother. Troll Mother looked at the thin jacket Troll Brother had on and shook her head. “I have a sweater on underneath this jacket,” said Troll Brother, lifting up the bottom of his jacket to reveal a big thick sweater. “Good boy,” said Troll Mother, smiling. Troll Brother went outside to play and in about half an hour he came back inside. “That was quick,” said Troll Mother, setting a big mug of hot chocolate on the table. “Is that for me?” asked Troll Brother with a big grin on his face. “Yes dear,” said Troll Mother. “Oh good,” said Troll Brother. “I sure need this to warm me up. It is really cold outside today.” “It is going to be winter soon,” said Troll Mother. “Yes,” said Troll … Read entire article »

Autumn Days

AUTUMN DAYS written by Debbie Williamson "Fawn,'' said Spot to her friend, while she was cleaning up her stall. "We should do something today. It looks like a beautiful day!'' ''Sure Spot,'' said Fawn. ''What do you feel like doing?'' ''How about going for a walk?'' asked Spot. ''We can see if the leaves have changed colour yet.'' ''That sounds like fun,'' said Fawn. ''Okay,'' said Spot. ''We'll go as soon as I am finished cleaning.'' ''How long will that be?'' asked Fawn. ''If you were to help me,'' said Spot. ''I could get it done a lot quicker.'' ''Oh alright,'' said Fawn, totally hating the idea of doing housework. ''But what if Ricky and Jenny see me helping you?'' ''They would just think you're being nice,'' said Spot. ''Gee,'' said Fawn. ''I don't know about this.'' ''Oh Fawn,'' said Spot, throwing … Read entire article »

Autumn in the City

AUTUMN IN THE CITY written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! This is Cecil. I'm the Canadian Brother that lives in Ontario, Canada. It is now autumn in the city and while it is beautiful here in the city, to really enjoy the autumn colours, city folks take a drive to the country regions of Ontario. There really is nothing more beautiful than an autumn in Ontario. Ontario is home to the most beautiful maple trees. Maple trees turn beautiful shades of red, brown and gold in autumn. People from the city love to take a drive in the country during the autumn months. They love to get out of their cars and take walks in country parks and walk through the layers of coloured leaves that have already fallen to the ground. It … Read entire article »

Autumn in the Mountains

AUTUMN IN THE MOUNTAINS written by Debbie Williamson This is Mountain Mike, the Canadian Brother from the beautiful province of British Columbia, Canada. It is now autumn in British Columbia and it is so beautiful here. The trees have started to turn colour and there is a thin layer of snow on the tops of the mountains. It is starting to get cooler during the day and very cold during the night. The animals are very busy in the mountain at this time of the year, scurrying around for food. It is fun to watch the squirrels and chipmunks go from tree to tree storing their stash of acorns. They seem in such a hurry and don't even care that I am watching them. They will soon enter their hibernation for the winter … Read entire article »

Autumn in the Prairies

AUTUMN IN THE PRAIRIES written by Debbie Williamson Hi this is Prairie Pete. I'm the Canadian Brother that lives in the prairie province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Sorry, I don't have much time to chat with you right now. Autumn in the prairies is a very busy time of the year. There is so much work to be done and probably not enough days to finish it before the snow starts to fly. I get up at the crack of dawn and I work straight through the whole day, stopping only when the sun goes down and it is too dark to do any more work. At night when I come into the house my whole body is still and sore from all the work and a nice hot bath is in order, even … Read entire article »

Autumn Leaves

AUTUMN LEAVES written by Debbie Williamson Hey kids, please join me on my latest adventure. I want to see some autumn leaves. Travellin' Rick grabbed his camera and a picnic lunch and headed out in his car. He headed north and travelled up from Kingston, Ontario to Sharbot Lake, Ontario which was about 45 minutes away. Once in Sharbot Lake, Travellin' Rick travelled north on Highway 509. There were a lot of nice little towns in that area, Snow Road, Ardoch, Ompah just to name a few. It was a warm autumn day. As soon as Travellin' Rick got onto Highway 509 he noticed the beautiful autumn colours. The trees were a bright red, orange and brown colour. He was so happy he had taken this drive. Travellin' Rick was not alone on this adventure. … Read entire article »
