Batty

BATTY written by Debbie Williamson "Hey Spot," said Fawn. "Want to go to the cave we saw yesterday?" "But Mr. Hansen told us to stay away from it," said Spot. "He said it is dangerous and that there could be wild animals living in it." "It sure looked empty to me though," said Fawn. "Yes," said Spot. "It did. I have to admit that." "What is wrong with just checking it out?" asked Fawn. "I promise I won't go inside." "Promise?" asked Spot. "Yes," said Fawn. "I promise." "Then I guess it would be okay," said Spot. Fawn and Spot walked through the field and then over to the mountains. They found the cave that they had seen the day before. Fawn immediately went over to the entrance and ran inside.  Before Spot could say anything to him, Fawn came … Read entire article »

Batty Almost Missed Halloween

BATTY ALMOST MISSED HALLOWEEN written by Debbie Williamson Batty looked at the calendar that hung on the wall of his cave. "Oh good," said Batty. "I can sleep for another whole day until it is Halloween." Batty fell right back to sleep quickly. He was very tired these days and he wanted to catch up on his sleep before the big night. Halloween is a very big night for bats. It is the night that people are the most afraid of them. It is the night that they can hear fearful screams for hours on end. Bats enjoy every second of those fearful screams, too. "Batty!" someone was yelling. "Batty, wake up. It is Halloween night. You're going to miss out on all the fun!" Batty opened one eye and saw his neighbour standing there looking … Read entire article »

Batty and the Haunted House

BATTY AND THE HAUNTED HOUSE written by Debbie Williamson Batty was hanging on the ceiling of his cave when he noticed that the sun was starting to go down. It was kind of early in the day, so he started wondering what was up with that. He took a look out the cave entrance and he saw that it was pretty dark outside. Then he saw something that he had never seen before. He saw a house, an old house, way off in the distance. Batty flew off towards the house. As he got closer to it, he was starting to get scared and thought that he should turn around and go back to his cave but something kept telling him to keep going. As Batty neared the walkway to the front door of the … Read entire article »

BATTY HURT HIS WING written by Debbie Williamson It was Halloween and Batty was so excited. Halloween was his favourite time of year. He couldn't wait until the trick-or-treaters came to the door of his cave. He loved spooking them. He loved hearing their screams as he flew around just above their heads. He loved how they would fling their arms around. He was always so careful to make sure he was out of arms reach so that he didn't hurt himself, well, almost careful. The first of the children came and knocked on the cave door. Batty went to answer  it and he was so Intrigued and interested in the costumes the young children were wearing that he had forgotten that the door was very heavy and that it would spring closed … Read entire article »

BILLY TROLL'S HALLOWEEN CONCERT written by Debbie Williamson "Come on Billy," said Dianne Troll, his wife. "It will be fun to dress up for Halloween." "I don't think so," said Billy Troll. "What will my fans think of me?" "Billy," said Dianne. "Your fans will love you dressed up or not." "That is my point," said Billy. "I don't feel I need to dress up for Halloween." "Fine," said Dianne. "But it would make the concert that much more interesting and the Jagged Trolls are going to dress up." "I don't care what the Jagged Trolls do," said Billy. "Now Billy," said Dianne. "I thought Mick was your friend." "I wouldn't exactly call him a friend," said Billy. "He's more like an annoyance." "I think I would even have to agree on that one," said Dianne, thinking back to some … Read entire article »

It was a thumping sound and it was getting louder by the minute. “There, did you hear that?” asked Fawn. “Hear what?” asked Spot. “Fawn, I think that you have had too much excitement, trick-or-treating tonight. Now, will you please go to sleep?” “I’m not scared, if that’s what you think,” said Fawn. “I like trick-or-treating!” “Yes, I know you do,” said … Read entire article »

Fawn’s Mask

FAWN'S MASK written by Debbie Williamson Once upon a time, there lived two cows on a farm in Mountain Grove, Ontario. Their names were Fawn and Spot. Fawn was a tan coloured cow and Spot was a black and white coloured cow. "Fawn!" Spot yelled. "What are you doing with that foolish mask on your face? You look ridiculous!" "How did you know it was me?" asked Fawn. "It's not hard to tell," laughed Spot. "Your face may be covered up, but the rest of your body isn't." "Oh," said Fawn. "I forgot about the rest of me." "What are you doing anyway?" asked Spot. "I'm going trick-or-treating," said Fawn. "Oh no!" cried Spot. "Fawn, you can't go trick-or-treating!" "And why not!" cried Fawn.
