CHAPTER FIVE - THE FIRST
CONCERT
“Look!” screamed Suzie, holding an
envelope in her hand. “I just got a letter from my cousin Billy.”
“Read it,” said Mollie. “Maybe he doesn't want us to open for him after all.”
“That would be terrible,” said Crystal .
“Dear Suzie,” Suzie read. “Dianne filled me in on your little secret. At first,
I was angry and disappointed. The music business is a tough business to get into
and I never wanted to see anyone else in the family get into it. Suzie, I care
about you and I love you and I don't want to see you get hurt. I want what is
best for you. However, I realized a couple of things. I cannot make your
decisions for you about what you should do with your life and after watching
your video, you girls have talent. I also realized that since we are family, it
would be best if you did come on tour with me because then I can teach you what
I know and also keep my eyes on you. Love, Uncle Billy.”
''Wow!” exclaimed Suzie, putting the letter down. “That sure was a nice letter.”
“It sure was,” said Mollie. “And the amazing part of this whole thing is that
Billy Troll thinks that we have talent. That is so incredible.”
“Absolutely,” said Marie.
“We are going to have one awesome summer,” said Crystal .
“Speaking of which,” said Suzie. “Do you girls realize we only have one more
week til our first concert?”
“Time has just flown by for us,” said Mollie.
“It's time to practice,” said Crystal , grabbing the microphone.
“Not quite,” said Suzie, pointing to Crystal 's pile of books on the kitchen
table. “Homework first!”
“At least tomorrow is my last day of school for this year,” said Crystal ,
grabbing her history book off the table.
The night of Just Girlz's first concert fast approached. The girls were nervous
yet so excited. There were television cameras, radio announcers and contest
winners backstage. There were reporters and photographers everywhere.
“This is so exciting,” said Marie. “It seems everyone wants to meet us. I've
signed so many autographs now that I'm really starting to get writers cramps.”
“Well,” said Suzie. “The excitement is just about to start. Here comes my Uncle
Billy and his wife Dianne!”
Crystal , Mollie and Marie gasped at the sight of the famous singer and his
wife. They both looked radiant and happy and so much in love.
“Uncle Billy!” exclaimed Suzie, waving to him.
“Hi kiddo,” said Billy, putting his arms around Suzie and giving her a big kiss.
“How are you?”
“Just fine,” said Suzie and then looking over to Dianne. “Hi Dianne.”
“Hi Suzie,” said Dianne.
“I want to say thank you,” said Suzie to Dianne. “I don't know how you convinced
Uncle Billy to let us open for him, but we sure are grateful to you.”
“I'm just glad I could help,” said Dianne.
Suzie introduced Mollie, Marie and Crystal to Billy and Dianne.
“I'd like to introduce our opening for tonight, Just Girlz,” said the announcer.
“This is their first ever live performance and believe me, it won't be their
last. Ladies and gentlemen, Here's Suzie, Mollie, Marie and Crystal !”
Just Girlz gave the best performance they could. The audience loved them. They
were on their way to becoming super stars."
