SLOW-POKE'S VALENTINE FUN
"Slow-Poke," said Mrs. Duck. "It is time to go
to school. Come on, you are going to be late."
Slow-Poke came down the stairs, dragging his backpack behind him.
"Slow-Poke," said Mrs. Duck, looking at her son, as he stood at the bottom of
the stairs. "What is wrong with you?"
"I don't want to go to school today," said Slow-Poke sadly. "Can't I just stay
home?"
"Now Slow-Poke," said Mrs. Duck. "I thought we went through all of this last
night."
"Yes we did," said Slow-Poke. "But I still don't want to go."
"I know," said Mrs. Duck. "But you are going to have so much fun."
"But," said Slow-Poke. "Valentine's Day is for sissy's."
Just then there was a knock at the door. It was Slow-Poke's best friend, Freddy
Goose.
"Come on Slow-Poke," said Freddy. "You don't want to miss the Valentine's
party."
Freddy grabbed Slow-Poke's hand and led him out the door.
"So," said Mrs. Duck, when Slow-Poke came home from school. "How was the party?"
"Freddy and I had lots of fun," said Slow-Poke. "I even danced with Sally Swan."
"Oh I see," said Mrs. Duck. "And I thought Valentine's was for sissy's."
