FREEZING RAIN
"Hey, Fawn," said Spot. "It is really terrible
outside today."
"It is," said Fawn. "I wanted to go outside and play."
"I think you should stay inside today," said Spot. "It is freezing rain right
now and it is going to snow later on."
"I don't mind the snow so much as the freezing rain," said Fawn.
"Me either," said Spot. "Freezing rain is very dangerous."
"At lease we will be okay," said Fawn. "We are inside our nice and cozy barn.
Just think of poor Mr. Hansen. He has to drive in this weather today."
"Oh dear," said Spot. "I forgot all about that. I sure hope he will be okay."
"Yes," said Fawn. "Me too."
Fawn and Spot both worried about Mr. Hansen out on the treacherous roads all day
long. Mr. Hansen had to pick up Suzie so that she could
come for a visit.
"Hey look," said Spot, seeing a car pull up in the driveway, about an hour
later. "Mr. Hansen is back."
"Spot," said Fawn, looking out the window. "That is Mrs. Hansen. She is just
getting home from work."
"Oh," said Spot. "I was hoping it was Mr. Hansen."
"Yes," said Fawn. "Me too!"
Another two hours went by and there was no sign of Mr. Hansen. Fawn and Spot
were really getting worried. Several vehicles had gone down the road and they
were driving very, very slowly.
"Maybe Mr. Hansen is going to stay at Grandma's," said Spot.
"Oh yes," said Fawn. "Maybe he will, however I doubt it."
"Yes so do I," said Spot.
Another hour went be and still there was no sign of Mr. Hansen. It was very dark
outside now and very gloomy.
"I'm going up to the main house," said Fawn. "I can't stand this waiting any
longer."
"I'm coming with you," said Spot.
Fawn and Spot were slipping and sliding all the way up to the main house and as
soon as they got there, a familiar car pulled up into the driveway.
"Mr. Hansen," said Fawn and Spot, both relieved. "We were getting worried about
you."
"Well, I'm here now," said Mr. Hansen, opening up the passenger side of the car
to let Suzie out.
"Hi!" exclaimed Suzie, giving both Fawn and Spot a big hug.
"We are so glad you two are safe and sound," said Spot.
"Yes," said Mr. Hansen, winking at Suzie. "So are we."
Mr. Hansen did not want to tell Fawn and Spot that he almost got into an
accident on the 401. The roads were terrible.
