FAWN'S HAPPY HALLOWEEN SURPRISE

"What are you doing?" asked Spot, watching Fawn try to hang something on the wall of the living room.

"I'm decorating for the Halloween party," said Fawn.

"What Halloween party?" asked Spot, in horror.

Spot and Jenny had been planning a surprise Halloween party for Fawn for months. Now it looked like Fawn had found out about it. Spot shot a glance over to Jenny.

"I didn't tell him," Jenny whispered back.

Spot shrugged her shoulders with a look of wonderment on her face.

"I'm having a Halloween party," said Fawn. "Why are you so surprised?"

"Oh no reason," said Spot.

Spot was mortified. She went into the kitchen and Jenny followed her.

"How did he find out about our surprise?" asked Spot, almost in tears.

"I don't know," said Jenny, equally upset.

"It is just like him to find out," said Spot. "I wanted this to be a surprise."

"What surprise?" asked Fawn.

"As if you don't already know," said Spot. "You know all about my surprise, don't you?"

"I don't know what you are talking about," said Fawn, seriously. "I don't have a clue about any surprise that you have for me. I am just getting ready for my Halloween party."

"And who all is coming to your Halloween party?" asked Spot.

"Well Daisy and the gang from down the road," said Fawn.

"Anyone else?" asked Spot.

"You and Jenny are invited," said Fawn.

"And nobody else is coming," said Spot. "What about Grampy?"

"Grampy isn't coming to my Halloween party," said Fawn. "Where would you get a crazy idea like that?"

Spot and Jenny realized that Fawn knew nothing about the surprise Halloween party that she was planning because Grampy was coming. A big smile came across Spot and Jenny's face.

"You two are up to something," said Fawn. "However, I don't have time to figure out what that something is."

Fawn left the kitchen and when Spot knew he could not hear her, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"He doesn't know about the surprise party," said Spot, in a whisper.

"He is going to be so surprised," said Jenny.

"Yes," said Spot. "Especially when he finds out that he is decorating for his own surprise party!"

Spot and Jenny laughed and could not stop laughing. The night of the surprise party came and Spot and Jenny were busy in the kitchen getting drinks and chips for the guests, when they heard a knock on the back door. It was Grampy, dressed up in a cowboy costume.

"Oh Grampy," laughed Spot. "You look great!"

"Grampy looks like a real cowboy," said Jenny to Spot as they went into the living room.

"Yes he does," laughed Spot.

"Fawn," said Spot. "I'd like you to meet our new cowboy."

"I hope it is okay that I brought a friend to the party with us," said Jenny.

"Sure," said Fawn. "The more the merrier."

Fawn took the cowboy's hand and shook it and something felt very familiar about that hand to him. Fawn reached over and took the hat off the cowboy's head and could not believe his eyes.

"Grampy!" Fawn screamed.

"Surprise!" yelled Spot, happily.

"Happy Halloween Surprise," yelled Jenny.

"So that is what you two were up to!" cried Fawn, happily.
