SAFETY KID - SPRING SAFETY Hi everyone! I'm the Safety Kid. I recently went to British Columbia to visit with my friend Mountain Mike. Yes, you guessed right. Mountain Mike lives in the mountains. I wanted to make sure that my friend was safe.
From what I could see on my visit with Mountain Mike, things were pretty safe. Mountain Mike knew to stay away from fast flowing waters. He knew it was very dangerous and he knew that the water could sweep him away within seconds.
Mountain Mike knew to wear proper safety gear when he went for walks in the forest. He also knew enough to wear the proper clothing. Even though it is spring, the weather in the mountains could change at any second. Mountain weather is very unpredictable.
I had a lot of fun spending time with Mountain Mike. I was very glad that he was conscience of his own safety and also of his surroundings. Mountain Mike summed it all up quite well.
"Because I live in the mountains all by myself," said Mountain Mike. "I can't really afford to take a risk with my own safety because taking such a risk could be the difference between life and death." |
