BILLY TROLL GOES BACK TO
SCHOOL
"Billy, isn't this a beautiful evening," said
Dianne Troll. "Oh, look, a shooting star!"
"Quick, make a wish," said Billy Troll, putting his arm around Dianne.
"You know, it's a shame that summer is almost over," said Dianne.
"Yes, it is," said Billy. "However, now we can get back to a routine and get our
lives back in order. Summers seem to always have the effect of turning
everybody's lives upside down."
"It's funny, but I don't like to see summer end," said Dianne. "I guess its
because when I was a kid, I looked so forward to summers. Daddy would always
take us to Troll Beach! We had a riot. Once summer was gone, then we had to go
back to school. We never saw much of Daddy during the fall and winter."
"How come?" asked Billy, strumming on his guitar.
"Daddy worked on the railroad," said Dianne, sadly.
"At least you got to spend your summers with him," said Billy. "That must have
been really important to him."
"Oh, it was!" said Dianne. "Daddy just loved summers. Anyway enough of this.
What are you going to do with yourself now that summer is over?"
"I've been thinking about going back to school," said Billy.
"What!" exclaimed Dianne. "Back to school!"
"Yes," said Billy. "You know, I only need two more credits and I'd have my Grade
12 diploma."
"That's right," said Dianne. "Billy, I think that's wonderful!"
"Now that I know what I want to do with myself for the rest of my life," said
Billy.
"Oh, is that right," said Dianne. "What would that be?"
"Music, silly," said Billy, poking Dianne in the side. "You know I love music."
"Yes," said Dianne. "I know that!"
"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Billy.
"You know Billy, sometimes I think you are blind to everything in this world
except your music," said Dianne.
"I get it now," said Billy. "Dianne Troll, you are jealous."
"Maybe I am," said Dianne. "You always seem to pay more attention to your guitar
than you do anyone else."
"Is that so," said Billy as he leaned over to kiss Dianne.
"So, you're going back to school," said Dianne, a few minutes later. "That's
nice, Billy." |
