FAWN IS SPOOKED
“Spot, did you just
something?” asked
Fawn.
“No Fawn, I didn’t hear anything. said Spot. “I would appreciate it if you would
go back to
!”
“I can’t sleep,” said Fawn.
“Fawn, come on,” said Spot. “You are being ridiculous. There was no noise. Now,
go back to sleep.”
“I’ll try,” said Fawn.
Fawn tried his hardest, but he just couldn’t fall asleep. Every few minutes, he
heard a definite sound. It was a thumping sound and it was getting louder by the
minute.
“There, did you hear that?” asked Fawn.
“Hear what?” asked Spot. “Fawn, I think that you have had too much excitement,
trick-or-treating tonight. Now, will you please go to
sleep?”
“I’m not scared, if that’s what you think,” said Fawn. “I like
trick-or-treating!”
“Yes, I know you do,” said Spot. “You just love all that
that you got!”
“Yes, I admit it,” said Fawn. “I do love
candy. There, are you satisfied!”
“Look Fawn,” said Spot. “We’ve had a busy day, today. Now, can we please get to
sleep?”
Once again, Fawn tried to sleep but he just couldn’t. There was something
definitely making a noise.
“Spot, Spot!” exclaimed Fawn, a few minutes later. “Spot, wake up!”
“Oh Fawn,” said Spot. “What is it now?”
“I heard something,” said Fawn. “I was wondering if you would go outside and
check it out.”
“Me!” exclaimed Spot. “Why should I go outside?”
“Well, you do want to get some
sleep tonight, don’t you?” asked Fawn.
“Alright, I’ll go outside,” said Spot. “If I don’t find anything, which, by the
way, I know I’m not going to, then will you promise me that you won’t bother me
anymore.”
“I promise,” said Fawn.
Spot left her warm stall and headed for the
door.
“Spot!” yelled Fawn.
“What is it now?” asked Spot, angrily.
“You forgot your
,” said Fawn.
“Can you bring it here to me?” asked Spot.
“No way,” said Fawn. “I’m not leaving my stall!”
“You know something Fawn, you are afraid of the dark, aren’t you?” asked Spot.
“I am not,” said Fawn.
“Well then bring me the flashlight,” said Spot.
Once Spot got the flashlight from Fawn, she went outside. At first, she could
see nothing. It was very dark outside. She was just about to go back inside,
when she heard a faint thumping sound. Spot shone the
flashlight in the
direction of the sound and was surprised to see a
standing there.
“Oh my!” exclaimed Spot. “Who are you?”
“My name is Jake,” said the ghost.
“Are you a scary ghost?” asked Spot.
“No,” said Jake. “I’m a
ly
ghost.”
“How come you are here?” asked Spot.
“This is
,” said Jake. “I always come out on
Halloween.”
“Spot!” yelled Fawn, from inside the
barn. “What is taking you so long?”
“I’ll be right there,” said Spot.
“I’ve got to go, Jake,” said Spot. “My
friend, Fawn wants me.”
“Would it be alright if I came inside with you?” asked Jake. “It gets pretty
lonely out here all by myself.”
“Sure,” said Spot. “You could come in. I’m sure Fawn would love to meet you.”
Spot and Jake entered the barn.
“What in the world is that?” asked Fawn.
“This is Jake,” said Spot. “He is the one that has been making all the noise
outside.”
“But, he’s a ghost!” exclaimed Fawn. “Don’t let him come in here!”
“Fawn, settle down,” said Spot. “Jake isn’t a scary
ghost. He’s a
friendly
ghost.”
“There is no such thing as a friendly
ghost,” said Fawn. “All
ghosts are scary!”
“No, I’m not a scary ghost,” said Jake. “I just want to be your
friend.”
“You want to be my friend?” asked Fawn. “Don’t you want to scare me?”
“Scare you!” exclaimed Jake. “I can’t scare anyone. I don’t know how.”
“Oh this is so funny,” said Fawn. “You don’t know how to scare anyone.”
“No,” said Jake. “I don’t.”
“Well, it’s easy,” said Fawn. “You just sneak up behind someone and yell “BOO”
in their ear.”
“I don’t know,” said Jake. “I don’t want to be a scary
ghost, anyway. If I were
a scary ghost, I wouldn’t have any
friends.”
“I guess that’s true,” said Fawn. “I guess that I could be your
friend.”
“Really,” said Jake.
“Yes,” said Fawn. “It will be kind of neat to have a
ghost as a
friend!”
“Fawn!” exclaimed Spot. “Get those sneaky ideas out of your head!”
“Oh Spot,” said Fawn. “You ruin all my fun!” |
