THE TROLL FAMILY
RAKE LEAVES
It was a cool autumn day. Halloween came
and went and the trolls in Troll Town were starting to get ready for the coming
winter. Troll Daddy was outside raking the leaves that had fallen to the ground.
They had fallen from the big maple tree that was on the Troll family's front
lawn.
"Oh, this is so much work!" complained Troll Daddy, loudly. "These should have
been raked up weeks ago. Nobody helps around here anymore. I guess I'll have to
do it myself."
Troll Mother pulled into the driveway in her troll convertible. She had just
arrived home from working at the Troll Shopping Centre, as a sales-clerk.
"Where are the troll children?" she asked when she saw Troll Daddy.
"They're watching troll television," complained Troll Daddy. "There is some new
program called Troll Trek. I sometimes wish that we had never bought that
blasted television."
"Yes," said Troll Mother. "Since the television arrived, nothing has been
getting done around here. We are going to have to do something about that?"
"Like what?" asked Troll Daddy. "We can't just go in there and turn the
television off. They would never forgive us for that."
"I guess you're right," said Troll Mother. "That wouldn't be fair."
"Hi Troll Mother," yelled Troll Sister from the porch.
"What happened to Troll Trek?" asked Troll Daddy, angrily.
"Well, Troll Daddy," said Troll Sister. "We decided that we would help you rake
the leaves."
Troll Brother, Troll Baby and Troll Puppy came bounding out of the house. Troll
Puppy saw the big pile of leaves that Troll Daddy had raked up. He jumped into
it, head first.
Troll Puppy!" screamed Troll Daddy. "Get out of there!"
It was too late. Troll Brother, Troll Sister and Troll Baby saw the fun that
Troll Puppy was having and they decided they would join in, too.
"Troll children!" said Troll Daddy. "What do you think you are doing?"
"This is fun, Troll Daddy," said Troll Brother. "Come and play with us."
Troll Brother picked up an armful of leaves and threw them onto Troll Daddy's
head. The leaves soon buried Troll Daddy. Everyone was laughing and having a
good time. Before the Troll family realized it, it began to get dark.
"Looks like we can't rake the leaves," said Troll Mother. "It's too dark."
"We could always rake them tomorrow night," said Troll Brother.
"Yes, it looks like we'll have to," said Troll Daddy. "Let's all go in and have
some dinner."
"Good idea," said Troll Mother.
The next morning when the Troll family awoke, two feet of snow lay on the
ground.
"Oh no," said Troll Sister sadly. "Now we can't rake the leaves!"
The Troll Family was a little disappointed. They were looking forward to having
another evening of fun, jumping in the leaves.
