Story 122 – Fawn`s Day at Work

FAWN`S DAY AT WORK

written by Debbie Williamson

It was a bright, sunny fall day. Fawn was up at the crack of dawn trying not to wake Spot.
Fawn sat at the table drinking a cup of coffee.

“Um, this is good,” he said to himself. “A person could get used to this.”

“Fawn, what are you doing up so early,” said Spot, who was just waking up in the next stall.

“Go back to sleep,” said Fawn.

“Fawn, what are you doing with a shirt and tie on,” said Spot, now noticing what her friend was wearing.

Fawn grinned sheepishly. Spot knew something was up.

“Oh wait,” said Spot, remembering what day it was. “You’re not going to school today are you?”

“No, Spot, I’m not going to school,” said Fawn.

“Well, what are you doing?” asked Spot, confused.

“I’m going to work,” said Fawn, quite proud of himself.

“Work!” exclaimed Spot. “Fawn, you don’t have a job. You are a cow! You don’t work!”

“Settle down,” said Fawn. “I have a job.”

“Who on earth would hire you?” asked Spot, laughing.

“Well, Just Solutions did,” said Fawn.

“How did you get this job?” asked Spot.

“Over the internet,” said Fawn.

“Oh no,” said Spot!

Spot was not surprised at this because Fawn loved computers. In fact, Fawn loved everything that all other cows didn’t. Instead of eating hay, Fawn ate French fries. Instead of drinking water, Fawn loved to drink pop or coffee.

“I hope you at least told them you were a cow,” said Spot.

“Uh, no, I forgot,” said Fawn.

“Fawn, how could you forget something so important as that!” yelled Spot. “Never mind, I’ve already got it figured out. You still think you’re a human don’t you!”

“I am human,” said Fawn.

“I give up,” said Spot.

“Don’t you want to know what I am going to be doing?” asked Fawn.

“Not really,” said Spot.

“Well, I’m going to tell you,” said Fawn. “I’m going to be creating web sites for different snack food companies.”

“I suppose you will get to sample all the products too,” said Spot.

“I sure will,” said Fawn.

“Oh Fawn, you are ridiculous,” said Spot.

Just then there was a knock at the door.

“Go answer it,” ordered Fawn.

Spot went to answer the door. Standing at the door, was a nicely dressed pig with a briefcase in his hand.

“Is Fawn home?” asked the pig. “My name is Justin. I’m the president of Just Solutions.”

“Oh my,” said Spot. “I think I’m going to go back to bed.
