Christmas Shopping

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

"What are you going to do today?" asked Spot.

"I am going Christmas Shopping," said Fawn, putting on his winter coat and boots.

"Oh," said Spot, a little uneasily. "Alone?"

"Yes," said Fawn. "I'm going to the shopping mall."

"Oh dear," said Spot.

"What are you worried about?" asked Fawn. "I will be perfectly safe in the mall all by myself. Besides, what kind of trouble could I get into in a mall?"

Spot didn't answer that question. As soon as Fawn left the barn, she grabbed her coat and boots and followed him. She didn't want to see her friend get into trouble.

Once at the mall, Spot was surprised at the number of people that were there. The mall was packed. People were shoving and pushing each other to get the best bargains, people were lined up for miles at some stores.

"There is going to be some trouble today with Fawn," said Spot. "I just know it."

Spot spotted Fawn go into a fine china shop. All she could think of was the old saying about a bull in a china shop. Spot was terrified that he was going to break something. She ran in there right after him.

"I would like to purchase this item," said Fawn to a saleswoman.

Fawn reached over and picked up the item.

"Fawn," said Spot. "Don't touch that? If you break it you are going to have to buy it?"

At the sound of Spot's voice, Fawn almost dropped the item.

"Here," said the saleswoman. "Let me take that from you."

"Spot!" yelled Fawn. "You almost made me drop your …"

Fawn was almost going to say that he almost dropped Spot's Christmas present.

"Well," said Spot. "I didn't know you were going to buy it."

"What are you doing here?" asked Fawn.

"I'm just protecting you," said Spot.

"Protecting me from what?" said Fawn. "Looks like the only thing I need protection from is you."

"I'm sorry," said Spot.
