Story 242 – American Thanksgiving

AMERICAN THANKSGIVING

“I’m going into town,” said Fawn.

“How come?” said Spot.

“Well,” said Fawn. “I’m going to do some grocery shopping.”

“You are going grocery shopping,” laughed Spot.

“Yes,” said Fawn. “There are a few things I want to get for tomorrow.”

“What is so special about tomorrow?” asked Spot.

“Tomorrow is the American Thanksgiving holiday,” said Fawn. “So, I thought we could have a Thanksgiving dinner, too.”

“Fawn,” said Spot, sternly. “What country do we live in?”

“Canada,” said Fawn.

“When is our Thanksgiving holiday?” asked Spot.

“October,” said Fawn.

“Well, now that we have that straight,” said Spot. “Can you please tell me why you want to have Thanksgiving in November?”

“I don’t know,” said Fawn. “Is there anything wrong with wanting to have a turkey dinner?”

“Oh wait a minute,” said Spot. “You are not interested in all about the fact that tomorrow is an American holiday, you just want another turkey dinner.”

“No,” said Fawn. “I do want a turkey dinner but I am interested in the American culture too because, after all, they are our neighbours.”

“Good,” said Spot. “It is good to know more about our neighbours. Wait, though. I’ll come to town with you. I want to pick up a pumpkin pie for tomorrow’s dinner.”

“Pumpkin pie!” exclaimed Fawn. “That sounds good. I can’t wait til tomorrow. I can taste that turkey already. I think that everyone should celebrate two Thanksgivings in a year!”
