Christmas Morning

CHRISTMAS MORNING

written by Debbie Williamson

"Fawn," said Spot. "Wake up! It's Christmas morning."

"Oh," said Fawn. "I couldn't have set my alarm clock. I wanted to get up early."

"Well your alarm clock went off ten minutes ago," said Spot.

"Spot," said Fawn. "There must be something wrong with me. I must be sick."

"What are you talking about?" asked Spot.

"Well," said Fawn. "I never sleep in on Christmas morning. My alarm clock went off ten minutes ago and I never even heard it."

"I don’t think there is anything wrong with you," said Spot. "I mean you stayed up until two o'clock in the morning. How were you expecting to get any sleep?"

"I never sleep on Christmas morning," said Fawn. "And besides, this Christmas is just not the same. Christmas hasn't been the same since Nanny died."

"I know Fawn but you'd better get up," said Spot. "Or you are going to miss Christmas morning all together."

Fawn got up right away after Spot said that he might miss Christmas morning. He had a quick shower and was ready to open presents in ten minutes.

"Hey," said Fawn, sitting down under the Christmas tree. "Where did all the presents go?"

"Mr. Hansen came in this morning and took them up to the main house," said Spot. "He wants everyone to open presents up there this year."

"So Mr. Hansen is awake already," said Fawn. "He usually sleeps in on Christmas morning."

"Looks like you two switched this year," said Spot.

Fawn quickly got his boots and coat on and him and Spot were up at the main house in no time at all.

"Merry Christmas," Mr. Hansen said, when he opened the door for Fawn.

Mr. Hansen winked at Spot as Fawn went into the living room, straight for the Christmas tree.

"Merry Christmas," a voice, very familiar to Fawn, said loudly.

     "Grampy!" exclaimed Fawn, happily.

     "Merry Christmas!"

Fawn was not expecting Grampy to be there for Christmas at all this year. He was very happy to see him and it made Christmas so much better for Fawn and for that matter, the whole Hansen family.
