"Hi Billy," said Dianne Troll, walking up her friend's laneway. "What are you doing today?"
"I'm just sitting here with my guitar," said Billy. "What's up?"
"Well," said Dianne shyly. "I was wondering if you would like to go to the Valentine's Day dance with me?"
"Where is this dance?" asked Billy.
"It's at the high school," said Dianne. "There's this fabulous new band playing."
"Oh," said Billy, smiling to himself. "What's the name of this band?"
"It's called 'Til Your Heart is Content'," said Dianne. "They are excellent!"
"Well," said Billy. "How do you know? Have you heard them before?"
"I heard them once on the radio," said Dianne. "I've also heard that the lead singer is gorgeous. What do you say, Billy? Do you want to come with me?"
"Sure," said Billy. "I'll come. This sounds like a lot of fun."
Dianne gave Billy a kiss on the cheek and then left him alone with his guitar.
"I'm yours for the rest of time," Billy sang. "Til your heart is content. Our love will last forever, til your heart is content."
The Valentine's Day dance rolled around. Billy stopped by Dianne's house to pick her up.
"Well Billy," said Mrs. Troll. "How are you?"
"I'm doing just fine," said Billy. "Is Dianne ready?"
"She was just getting her jacket on when I left her room," said Mrs. Troll. "She'll be down in a minute. So, you and Dianne are going to see that fabulous new band tonight, are you?"
"Why, do you like them too?" asked Billy.
"I sure do," said Mrs. Troll. "Especially since I know that you are the lead singer."
"What!" asked Billy surprised. "How did you know that? Dianne doesn't know, does she?"
"No," said Mrs. Troll. "She has no idea that this gorgeous lead singer is you."
"Oh good," said Billy. "I want to surprise her."
"I'm sure she'll be surprised," said Mrs. Troll.
"How did you find out?" asked Billy.
"Well," said Mrs. Troll. "I was driving by your house the other day and I heard you singing that great new song of yours and then Dianne came home singing the same song. I asked her where she had heard it and she told me that she heard it on the radio."
A few minutes later, Dianne came down the stairs, dressed in a red velvet dress with white lace around the neckline.
"My, aren't you pretty," said Billy.
"Well thank you," Dianne blushed. "Are you ready?"
"I sure am," said Billy.
"Have a good time," Mrs. Troll called after them, as they walked down the laneway to Billy's car.
Once at the dance, Billy asked Dianne to excuse him for a moment. He told her that he had just spotted an old friend of his and he wanted to say hello, but he actually slipped away and went backstage to do a quick sound check. He was back at Dianne's side, shortly.
"That didn't take too long," said Dianne.
"No," said Billy. "It turned out that it wasn't my friend after all. It was someone else."
"Ladies and Gentlemen," a voice rang out from the stage. "We are so glad that all you fluttering hearts could make it out to our Fifth Annual Valentine's Day Dance. Now, we all know that you are looking forward to hearing Troll Town's newest and hottest band
'Til Your Heart is Content'."
Dianne turned around to nudge Billy, but he wasn't there.
"Oh well," she said to herself. "Maybe that person turned out to be his friend after all."
"I'd like to dedicate this song to my dearest friend, Dianne Troll," a voice rang out from the pitch black stage.
"You lucky girl," said one of Dianne's friends. "Why didn't you tell me that you knew these guys?"
"I, I," Dianne stammered.
The lights came on and Dianne couldn't believe her eyes.
"Why that's Billy!" she cried. "Billy is the gorgeous lead singer of 'Til Your Heart is Content'!"
"Why didn't you tell me?" Dianne asked Billy the next day.
"And miss seeing the expression on your face when those lights came on," said Billy. "I wouldn't have missed that for the world. So, you think I'm gorgeous."
"I sure do!" laughed Dianne.
