TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE
written by Debbie Williamson
On August 28, 2007, Mountain Mike woke up early, very early in the morning. He could feel something was going on outside but he didn't know what it was. He grabbed his robe and went out into the living room of his cabin. He looked out the window and he couldn't believe what he saw.
Mountain Mike grabbed his binoculars and went outside and stood on his front porch. He saw the moon above the mountains in the distance. Now, Mountain Mike has seen the moon over the mountains several times, however, he had never seen a total eclipse of the moon before. Mountain Mike stood and watched the eclipse for over an hour. When he first started watching it, the moon was a bright red colour with a strip of bright white at the bottom of it. Then the moon turned a blood red colour and then it turned almost completely black. Mountain Mike had never seen anything like it.
Total lunar eclipses are rare to see and Mountain Mike enjoyed every moment he could of it. However, he was getting pretty sleepy too, after all, it was 3:00 am in the morning. After watching it for one hour, he went back to bed. He slept in late the next morning, something he rarely does but when he woke up the images of the lunar eclipse were still fresh in his head.
