"You know what I want for Christmas this year," said Fawn, sitting in his room, looking at the Christmas catalogues that Spot had given him earlier that day.
"What?" asked Spot.
"All I want for Christmas is for their to be honesty in this world," said Fawn.
"Wow!" exclaimed Spot, blown away by Fawn's answer. "Fawn, that is so nice."
"I'm serious Spot," said Fawn, putting down the catalogue that he was looking at. "There is so much lying going on in this world and I just wish it would stop."
"So do I," said Spot. "It is a nice dream, Fawn but we are just cows and who is going to listen to us."
"Everyone around us will," said Fawn. "We could actually get a lot of people to listen. You know if we told even one person and that person told one other person and that person told another person, well, there is three people that have listened."
"True," said Spot.
Just then Jenny and Ricky Hansen came into the barn to visit with their friends.
"So Fawn," said Jenny, noticing the catalogue lying on the floor. "What do you want for Christmas?"
"Actually," said Fawn. "What I want is honesty in this world."
"Really?" asked Ricky. "So like you don't want any toys or anything like that?"
"That is right," said Fawn. "Spot and I were just discussing this and that is what we both want."
"How are you going to achieve that goal?" asked Jenny.
"Well," said Fawn. "I have an idea. What if when we receive our gifts this year, we have to tell the truth to someone."
"That is a good idea," said Ricky. "Let's all do that."
"Okay," said Jenny.
Christmas morning came and Jenny, Ricky, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen were all in the barn with Fawn and Spot.
"Okay," said Jenny, handing Fawn his Christmas present. "Fawn, I have to confess something to you. I didn't really have to work on my homework the night you asked me if you could use my computer."
"You didn't," said Fawn. "How come you lied to me?"
"Well," said Jenny. "I'm going to be honest here. The last time you used my computer you didn’t turn it off like you were supposed to."
"I didn't," said Fawn. "Gee, Jenny, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave it on."
"Okay," said Ricky, handing Fawn his Christmas gift. "I have something to confess to you too. When you asked me if you could borrow my cd player, I told you it was broken but it really wasn't. I just didn't want you to use it."
"Oh," said Fawn, his feelings a little hurt. "I'm not so sure I like this honesty thing for Christmas."
"But," said Spot, handing Fawn his Christmas gift. "I think it is a good thing because I too have something to confess to you."
"What is it?" asked Fawn.
"Well," said Spot, blushing. "I am totally in love with you."
"You are!" exclaimed Fawn, reaching behind him and getting Spot's Christmas present. "I love you too!"
Spot could not believe it but Fawn had gotten her an engagement ring. She was so pleased and happy that she gave Fawn and big hug and kiss.
"I guess this honesty thing isn't so bad after all," said Fawn, laughing.
