"Fawn, Fawn!" exclaimed Spot, excitedly. "It's snowing outside!"
"Oh leave me alone," said Fawn, grumpily. "I need my sleep."
"But Fawn," said Spot. "Jenny and Ricky are outside."
"I don't care right now," said Fawn. "I didn't get much sleep last night. I'm tired. Just leave me alone."
"Well," said Spot. "If you wouldn't stay up so late listening to that new radio that Jenny and Ricky got you for Christmas, you might be able to go to bed earlier."
"Oh leave me alone," cried Fawn.
"You're missing out on all the fun," said Spot. "I think that I am going to go outside to see them."
Spot bundled up warmly in the new scarf that she got for Christmas from Jenny and Ricky. She really liked the bright orange and pink colours of her new scarf. They were her favourite colours.
"Good riddance!" said Fawn, as Spot was on her way out the barn door.
Fawn and Spot were two cows that lived on a farm in Mountain Grove, Ontario. Fawn was a tan coloured cow and Spot was a black and white coloured cow.
A few peaceful minutes went by and Fawn was able to go back to sleep. However, soon, he was awaken by a loud screeching sound.
"Wee! Wee!" he heard.
Fawn got up onto his four feet and looked out the barn window.
"Hey!" said Fawn to himself. "It looks like they are having fun. I think I'm going to go outside, too."
Fawn walked over to where Spot, Ricky and Jenny were playing.
"What's going on?" Fawn asked Spot.
"Ricky and Jenny are tobogganing," said Spot. "They are having a lot of fun!"
Ricky got onto his toboggan and sped down the hill. Jenny went down next.
"Wow!" exclaimed Fawn. "That looks like fun! I want to have a turn."
"Oh no!" cried Spot. "Fawn, you can't go tobogganing. It's dangerous. Besides, you're a cow and cows just don't go tobogganing."
"Oh yeah!" exclaimed Fawn. "Watch this!"
Fawn went over to where Jenny's toboggan was lying in the snow. He picked it up in his mouth and carried it over to the top of the hill.
"Fawn!" cried Spot. "Don't do it!"
It was too late. Fawn sat down on the toboggan and away he went. At first, it was fun, but then Fawn saw that the toboggan was heading straight for a clump of trees.
"Fawn jump off!" shouted Spot.
Fawn jumped off the toboggan and landed head first into a snow bank. Slowly, he got up. He was alright, but his head was very sore.
Spot, Ricky and Jenny ran over to where Fawn was standing.
"Fawn!" exclaimed Spot. "Are you alright?"
"Yes," said Fawn. "I'm fine. My head hurts a little."
"I bet you won't try that trick again," said Spot.
"Oh yeah," said Fawn. "That was fun! I just have to get the hang of it!"
