DIANNE TROLL'S BIRTHDAY SURPRISE

“Hi Dianne!” exclaimed Billy Troll, seeing his friend sitting on her front porch.

“Hi Billy,” said Dianne. “Nice day, isn’t it?”

“Yes, it is,” said Billy. “So, Dianne. Are you doing anything special for your birthday tomorrow?”

“Oh you remembered,” blushed Dianne.

“Yes,” said Billy. “I’m not going to forget my very best friend’s birthday.”

“Well, I’m not doing anything special,” said Dianne. “My parents were going to come over but, Daddy has to work late.”

“Oh well in that case, I would like you to come to my place for dinner,” said Billy.

“Okay,” said Dianne. “That sounds like fun!”

“Great!” said Billy. “See you around seven.”

Dianne was very excited about having dinner with her friend Billy Troll. She liked Billy a lot.

The night of Dianne’s birthday rolled around. Dianne went over to Billy’s house a few minutes before seven.

“Happy Birthday to you!” sang Billy, when Dianne walked through the doorway.

“Oh Billy, I love your singing,” said Dianne.

“Well, Dianne,” said Billy, seriously, handing her a small, elegant package. “I love you!”

“Oh!” gasped Dianne, opening the package.

Lying in a bed of velvet was the most beautiful necklace that Dianne had ever seen. It was very delicate with small pink and blue daisies on it.

“Here,” said Billy, standing behind Dianne.
“Let me put this on for you!”

“Okay!” said Dianne.

“Oh Dianne!” said Billy. “You look absolutely beautiful!”

“Thank you, Billy!” said Dianne, blushing.

“Dianne,” said Billy. “Will you marry me?”

“Oh Billy!” exclaimed Dianne, happily. “This is the happiest birthday of my life!”

“You didn’t answer me,” said Billy, with a look of anguish on his face. “I take it that means you don’t want to marry me!”

“Oh Billy, yes, I do!” exclaimed Dianne with joy.

“I love you, Dianne,” said Billy.

“Billy, I love you too,” said Dianne.
