Story 814 – A Bonus Adventure

A BONUS ADVENTURE

written by Debbie Williamson

It was a hot, summer day. As my latest adventure, I decided I would go for a nice drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park, which is located just outside of Kamloops, BC. I had my sidekick, Baby Patrick with me.

Just outside of the park, on the Paul Lake Road, I stopped the car abruptly at what I saw.

“What did you do that for?” asked Baby Patrick.

“Look,” I said, pointing out my window.

“Awesome,” said Baby Patrick.

There, on the side of the road, not twenty feet from where I stopped was a truly genuine cattle round-up.

I was mesmerized by what I saw and so was Baby Patrick. There in the green grass stood a couple of horses and on those horses was a cowboy, a truly genuine cowboy, complete with cowboy boots, stirrups and cowboy hat. I was amazed. Who would think in this day and age that cattle round-ups still occurred?

As we watched the cowboys round up the cattle, I realized that rounding up cattle was actually very hard work, however, it seemed to me that the cowboys actually didn’t even break out in sweat.

We really enjoyed the couple of minutes that we got to watch the real-life cowboys. I got out of the car and so did Baby Patrick. Baby Patrick took some pictures because that is not something that we will probably ever get to see again.

We continued on with the rest of our adventure to Paul Lake Provincial Park. Seeing the cattle round-up was a bonus for us, a bonus adventure.
