FLIP FLOP

Fawn went for a walk on a beautiful spring day. The sun was shining brightly through the trees and Fawn was starting to get very warm. Soon, Fawn came to a clear blue pond. He stopped to look at his reflection in the pond, when he heard a large splash at the far end of the pond. The splash caused the pond to ripple and Fawn laughed when his reflection started to ripple.

“What are you laughing at?” a voice said, scaring Fawn.

“I’m not laughing at anything except my reflection in the water,” said Fawn, looking around the pond to see who was speaking to.

“I’m over here,” the voice said. “I’m on the lilly pad.”

Fawn finally saw where the voice was coming from. On top of the biggest lilly pad in the middle of the pond sat the biggest toad Fawn had ever seen.

“You sure you weren’t laughing at me?” the toad asked.

“I’m positive,” said Fawn. “When we jumped into the pond you caused a rippling effect. I was looking at my reflection. It was funny watching it ripple.”

“Yes,” said the toad, looking at Fawn closely. “I can see why you would laugh.”

“Hey,” said Fawn. “That isn’t very nice. You shouldn’t tease me.”

“I’m sorry,” said the toad. “I won’t do it again.”

“Okay,” said Fawn. “Do you promise?”

“Yes,” said the toad. “I promise.”

“My name is Fawn,” said Fawn introducing himself. “What is your name?”

“Flip Flop,” said the toad.

“Well hello Flip Flop,” said Fawn.

“You know Fawn,” said Flip Flop. “I kind of like you. I mean whenever I tell anyone my name, they laugh and make fun of me.”

“I would never do that,” said Fawn. “That would just be mean and I am not mean.”

Fawn and Flip Flop became very good friends and Fawn stopped by the pond to say hello to his new friend.
