Story 599 – Graduation Day

GRADUATION DAY written by Debbie Williamson ”What is going on around here today?” Fawn asked Spot. “Jenny didn’t go to school today and both Mr. and Mrs. Hansen didn’t go to work.” ”Fawn,” said Spot. “Today is Jenny’s graduation.” ”Graduation?” asked Fawn. “Jenny will not be going to public school next year,” said Spot. “She will be going to high school!” ”Our little Jenny!” exclaimed Fawn. ”Yes,” said Spot. ”Our little Jenny is growing up.” “I can remember when she was about 7 years old,” said Fawn. “She was so sweet and so kind.” “She still is,” said Spot. Jenny came down to the barn in her graduation dress to see Fawn and Spot before she left for her graduation party. ”You look so grown up,” said Fawn. “You look like a princess,” said Spot. Jenny certainly did look very grown up in … Read entire article »

Story 595 – Fawn and Spot Move to the City

FAWN AND SPOT MOVE TO THE CITY written by Debbie Williamson “It sure is noisy around the farm today,” said Spot, looking out the window of the barn. There was a big moving truck up at the house as well as several movers. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen were scurrying back and forth frantically. “Yeah,” said Fawn, sounding depressed. “It is.” “I guess you’re not in a very good mood either,” said Spot. “No, I’m not,” said Fawn. “I’m going to miss this barn.” “Me too,” said Spot. “At least we will still be together. I think we’ll be alright.” “Spot, don’t be so foolish,” said Fawn. “Don’t you know what cities are like? Cars, smog, people, noise, crime and what is taking Jenny and Ricky so long?” asked Fawn. “We have to get on the moving truck.” Jenny and … Read entire article »

Bad Temper

BAD TEMPER written by Debbie Williamson "Spot," said Fawn, coming into the barn. "I want to go to town. Can you come with me?" "Fawn," said Spot, looking up from the book she was reading. "I have to study for this test. I can go with you this afternoon but, I can't go with you right now." "Oh," said Fawn, angrily. "So you just don't want to come with me. I understand. You don't ever want to go anywhere with me anymore. That is fine. I can take a hint." "Fawn," said Spot, laying her book down. "That just isn't true. I do want to go with you to town. However, you know that I have a lot of studying to do if I want to pass this English course that I am taking at … Read entire article »

Story 225 – Little Kittens

LITTLE KITTENS written by Debbie Williamson “Hey Fawn,” said Spot. “Have you seen all the kittens at the back of the barn?” “What?” asked Fawn, angrily. “There are more little kittens that I haven’t seen.” “Why are you so angry about the little kittens?” asked Spot. “They are adorable.” “Adorable my foot!” exclaimed Fawn. “Have you ever been able to pick one up?” “Well no,” Spot had to admit. “I haven’t. They run away just as soon as I come anywhere near them.” “My point exactly,” said Fawn. “For two weeks now I have been trying to pet one and they just scurry off.” “So that is why you don’t like them,” said Spot. “Just because you can’t pet them. That is silly.” “But I want to pet one,” said Fawn. “I wanted to make friends with them.” “Well,” said … Read entire article »

It is Freezing Cold

IT IS FREEZING COLD written by Debbie Williamson This is Prairie Pete. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I am the youngest of the Canadian Brothers. I live in the prairies and it is winter time here, even though it is only the first day of December. As far as I am concerned, winter starts the very day my thermometer says it does and that is when it is freezing cold here. This morning, I looked at my thermometer and it read -17 Celsius. Now, for you folks that don't know anything about Celsius, that reads about 1 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, that isn't really too cold, however, on the prairies, when we have a high wind, anything that reads below zero Celsius and it is freezing cold. Today, unfortunately, was just one of those days that … Read entire article »

Fawn’s Long Cold Walk

FAWN'S LONG COLD WALK written by Debbie Williamson      Fawn decided that he wanted to go outside and get some fresh air. He was sick of being cooped up in his barn. It had been raining and snowing for the past couple of days.      "Where are you going?" asked Spot, seeing Fawn all bundled up at the front door.      "I'm going for a walk," said Fawn.      "It is really cold out today," said Spot. "But I see that you are dressed for it."      "Do you want to come?" asked Fawn.      "Well I would," said Spot. "But I'm not feeling all that great today."      "No," said Fawn. "Then you're better off to stay home. I won't be long, I just need to get some fresh air."      "Okay," said Spot, looking down at Fawn's … Read entire article »
