Story 815 – Okanagan Connector

OKANAGAN CONNECTOR written by Debbie Williamson My latest adventure occurred in my home province, British Columbia. I went to the Kamloops airport and picked up my sidekick, Baby Patrick. He was very excited about this next adventure. “So we are going to drive the Okanagan Connector!” exclaimed Baby Patrick, excitedly. “Yes,” said Travellin’ Rick. “That is our newest adventure. We are going to travel the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, BC.” The Okanagan Connector was a massive highway project in British Columbia that helped bridge the gap between the lower mainland and the Okanagan Valley regions of British Columbia. Travellin’ Rick and Baby Patrick drove from Kamloops to Merritt and once at Merritt they drove onto the Okanagan Connector. The Okanagan Valley was a huge stretch of highway. Story 814 – A Bonus Adventure

A BONUS ADVENTURE written by Debbie Williamson It was a hot, summer day. As my latest adventure, I decided I would go for a nice drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park, which is located just outside of Kamloops, BC. I had my sidekick, Baby Patrick with me. Just outside of the park, on the Paul Lake Road, I stopped the car abruptly at what I saw. “What did you do that for?” asked Baby Patrick. “Look,” I said, pointing out my window. “Awesome,” said Baby Patrick. There, on the side of the road, not twenty feet from where I stopped was a truly genuine cattle round-up. I was mesmerized by what I saw and so was Baby Patrick. There in the green grass stood a couple of horses and on those horses was a cowboy, a truly genuine … Read entire article »

Story 811 – Baby Patrick

BABY PATRICK written by Debbie Williamson “I am travelling this weekend,” said Travellin’ Rick to his agent, Bob, on the phone. “You are sending me to British Columbia.” “That is right,” said Bob. “Look, I’ve been thinking. I think you need a helper, you know, a sidekick.” “Gee,” said Travellin’ Rick. “You think so.” “Yes,” said Bob. “I think a younger person would add some further entertainment to your adventures.” “Am I, by any chance, doing something wrong?” asked Travellin’ Rick, thinking that Bob has some kind of ulterior motive in wanting to hire him a sidekick. “Oh no!” exclaimed Bob. “I will tell you the truth here. Actually, my insurance agent suggested the sidekick. He said it would be good if you had a partner with you in case something went wrong. Your sidekick would be there to help you … Read entire article »

BC Day

BC DAY written by Debbie Williamson "Fawn," said Spot. "What are we going to do tomorrow?" "I don't know," said Fawn, playing his favourite computer game. "How about nothing?" "Nothing!" exclaimed Spot. "Are you kidding? Do you not know that tomorrow is a holiday?" "It is?" asked Fawn. "Yes it is," said Spot. "It is BC Day." "Cool," said Fawn. "I like the sound of that holiday, especially since we now live in BC." "Yeah me too," said Spot. "So are we going to do something tomorrow then?" "Sure," said Fawn. "But what?" "Well," said Spot. "Since BC Day is all about a celebration of the pioneers who built this province, I thought we could do something pioneerish." "Sure," said Fawn, laughing. "Like climb a mountain." "Yes," said Spot. "After all the pioneers would have had to climb a lot of mountains … Read entire article »

Story 491 – Too Many Clocks

TOO MANY CLOCKS written by Debbie Williamson “Fawn,” said Spot, early that morning before leaving to go help out at the neighbours. “Don’t forget to meet me at the gate at seven tonight. I don’t want to walk home alone.” “Oh don’t worry,” said Fawn. “I won’t let you walk alone, especially after the stories we’ve been hearing about grizzly bears in the woods.” Fawn enjoyed himself that day while Spot was away. He was able to watch whatever he wanted on the television and he was able to eat whatever he wanted as well. He really wasn’t paying close attention to the time and seven o’clock came and went. About a half an hour later, Spot walked through the barn door. Fawn was just sitting in the living room watching television. She was very … Read entire article »

Story 459 – Invasion of the Crows

INVASION OF THE CROWS written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! This is Travellin’ Rick. Have I got an adventure for you! Okay, I’ve travelled to a lot of different places and I have seen a lot of different things. However, I was quite unprepared for the invasion of crows that I saw. I was visiting Valemount, BC on the Easter long weekend in April 2007, when I noticed blackness in the air. I was surprised and shocked at what I saw. I saw about twenty crows just sitting there at a motel nearby. It was quite a sight to see and believe it or not, I was kind of freaked out by it. I have seen crows of all kinds, big ones, small ones and even fat ones. I’ve seen them in trees, on hydro … Read entire article »
