Poor Mountain Father

POOR MOUNTAIN FATHER The Poor Mountain Family were a set of characters that I created back in 2005 when I moved to British Columbia, Canada. I wanted a set of characters in which they respect each other as a family through thick and thin. Poor Mountain Father is the head of the Poor Mountain Family. He may not have much money but he still provides for his family as best as he can under the circumstances. Poor Mountain Father wanted a better life for his children. He wanted them to grow up in the fresh air of the mountains and not have to put up with pollution and noise. Poor Mountain Father is very kind and generous and not just generous with money, which he doesn’t have a lot of. He knows how … Read entire article »

Story 630 – Fear of No Rain

FEAR OF NO RAIN written by Debbie Williamson Living in a desert definitely has its challenges. The Desert Kid knows the challenges and lives with them each and everyday of his life. The Desert Kid was born and raised in the desert. Most of the challenges the Desert Kid faces is nature related. For instance, he lives with constant temperatures in the high 30`s and 40`s. This may seem cold to some but you have to realize that those temperatures are Celsius, not Fahrenheit. The reason for this is because the Desert Kid lives in Canada’s only desert, the Okanagan Valley in the province of British Columbia. Therefore, when you convert 30 to 40 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit, you get temperatures in the 90′s and early 100′s. The desert is very hot and because … Read entire article »

A RELAXING MOTHER’S DAY written by Debbie Williamson Poor Mountain Mother was sitting on her couch on Mother’s Day. Story 568 – Wild Horses

WILD HORSES written by Debbie Williamson Ever since moving to British Columbia, two years ago, I have felt closer to nature because of the mountains and wildlife that I have seen. However, I never expected I would ever find out that we have wild horses living in this beautiful province. Wild horses to me, represent the true wild west. There are parts of this province that are still untouched and untamed and to know that we have wild horses here just confirms this. One day I went for a drive and saw some horses running wild in a field. Now, I don’t think they were the true wild horses but it sure was something to see. They were running free and wild and their manes were flowing with the wind. It was so cool. … Read entire article »

FAWN’S VALENTINE PROMISE written by Debbie Williamson “Fawn,” said Spot, running her hands down the front of her new skirt. “Do you think I look pretty?” Fawn quickly glanced up at Spot. He stopped everything he was doing when he noticed the hearts on Spot’s skirt. He knew the only time that Spot wore anything with hearts on it was Valentine’s Day. He also remembered a promise he had made to Spot a week before. He had promised Spot that he would take her out for dinner. “Yes,” said Fawn. “Of course you look pretty.” “Thank you,” said Spot. “You know you don’t have to take me out if you don’t want to.” Fawn almost told Spot that he really didn’t want to take her out.
