Total Lunar Eclipse

TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE written by Debbie Williamson On August 28, 2007, Mountain Mike woke up early, very early in the morning. He could feel something was going on outside but he didn't know what it was. He grabbed his robe and went out into the living room of his cabin. He looked out the window and he couldn't believe what he saw. Mountain Mike grabbed his binoculars and went outside and stood on his front porch. He saw the moon above the mountains in the distance. Now, Mountain Mike has seen the moon over the mountains several times, however, he had never seen a total eclipse of the moon before. Mountain Mike stood and watched the eclipse for over an hour. When he first started watching it, the moon was a bright red … Read entire article »

Canadian Summer

CANADIAN SUMMER written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! This is Mountain Mike. I live in the mountains in British Columbia, Canada. A lot of people think that British Columbia only comes alive in the winter time because of the ski season. Skiing is a big thing in BC however, so is fishing and hiking. During the summer months, I love to hike into the mountains. I love going right to the very top and just looking over the edge. I get such a rush looking down and seeing the river below look like a little dotted line and full size cars looking smaller than toy cars. I've been right to the top of the mountain, right where the cloud meets the sky and a few times I have even been up higher than … Read entire article »

Summer in the Maritimes

SUMMER IN THE MARITIMES written by Debbie Williamson Hi! I am Fishing Frank. I live in one of the maritime provinces of Canada, New Brunswick. I love summer in the maritimes, as it my most productive season. In the summer months, maritimers fish and fish and fish. We fish on big fishing boats, medium fishing boats and small fishing boats. We fish whenever and wherever we can. Generations and generations of maritimers fish. Fishing tips and tools are passed down from grandfather to father to son. Fishing boats are passed on the same way. Many families work together, not just as a family, but as a team.      A typical summer day in the maritimes starts at sun up. We wake early, get our fishing gear on and then off to our boats we go. … Read entire article »

Spring in the Mountains

SPRING IN THE MOUNTAINS written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! This is Mountain Mike. I live in British Columbia, Canada, in the mountains. It has been a rather cold and long winter. We had quite a bit of snow this winter too. I am so looking forward to spring. I love spring and I especially love spring in the mountains. During spring, there is a flurry of activity in the mountains. Wildflowers are sprouting everywhere, trees are growing their leaves and birds are singing. The weather in the mountains during early spring can be a little iffy at times. We still sometimes get some cold arctic air coming down from the north. This can result in snow in the upper mountainous elevations. As a matter of fact, it can snow at any time of … Read entire article »

Valentine’s Day in the City

VALENTINE'S DAY IN THE CITY written by Debbie Williamson Hello everyone. I'm Cecil City. I live in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is Valentine's Day and we do a lot in the city to prepare for this day. We buy our loved ones the most expensive perfume, chocolates and flowers that we can find and then we take our loved ones out for a very expensive meal at their favourite restaurant. In Toronto, you have to remember that there are a lot of restaurants to choose from and this may take a few weeks to figure out which one to take our loved ones too. After dinner, we usually go dancing and we usually don't get home until quite late. However, we definitely have to show up for work the next morning … Read entire article »

Valentine’s Day in the Prairies

VALENTINE'S DAY IN THE PRAIRIES written by Debbie Williamson Hello everyone. This is Prairie Pete. You might remember that I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, one of the prairie provinces. It is Valentine's Day here but we really don't do much to celebrate it. I mean, we will have a nice dinner with our loved ones and possibly share a few little gifts together but that is pretty much it. This time of the year we are usually snowed in or are in the midst of a cold spell. February in the prairies is usually a pretty nasty month for us. Our hearts are mostly concentrating on getting winter over with so that we can be out in the wide open prairie air, cultivating and plowing our fields. Unfortunately for ranchers, it is really hard … Read entire article »

Valentine’s Day in the Mountains

VALENTINE'S DAY IN THE MOUNTAINS written by Debbie Williamson Hello everyone! This is Mountain Mike. It is Valentine's Day today and I'm just getting myself all cleaned up. I've got a date tonight with Melissa. Melissa is about the prettiest mountain girl that I have ever laid eyes on. Melissa and I are just going to come back to my log cabin. I have cooked a nice romantic meal just for the two of us. Roasted moose with mashed potatoes and heaps of gravy. I even made a blueberry pie for desert with blue berries that I picked fresh myself. I have a bouquet of wild flowers for Melissa. I picked them myself so I'm really hoping that she isn't allergic to them. I made sure there was no weeds in with them. I am … Read entire article »

Autumn in the Mountains

AUTUMN IN THE MOUNTAINS written by Debbie Williamson This is Mountain Mike, the Canadian Brother from the beautiful province of British Columbia, Canada. It is now autumn in British Columbia and it is so beautiful here. The trees have started to turn colour and there is a thin layer of snow on the tops of the mountains. It is starting to get cooler during the day and very cold during the night. The animals are very busy in the mountain at this time of the year, scurrying around for food. It is fun to watch the squirrels and chipmunks go from tree to tree storing their stash of acorns. They seem in such a hurry and don't even care that I am watching them. They will soon enter their hibernation for the winter … Read entire article »

Autumn in the City

AUTUMN IN THE CITY written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! This is Cecil. I'm the Canadian Brother that lives in Ontario, Canada. It is now autumn in the city and while it is beautiful here in the city, to really enjoy the autumn colours, city folks take a drive to the country regions of Ontario. There really is nothing more beautiful than an autumn in Ontario. Ontario is home to the most beautiful maple trees. Maple trees turn beautiful shades of red, brown and gold in autumn. People from the city love to take a drive in the country during the autumn months. They love to get out of their cars and take walks in country parks and walk through the layers of coloured leaves that have already fallen to the ground. It … Read entire article »

Autumn in the Prairies

AUTUMN IN THE PRAIRIES written by Debbie Williamson Hi this is Prairie Pete. I'm the Canadian Brother that lives in the prairie province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Sorry, I don't have much time to chat with you right now. Autumn in the prairies is a very busy time of the year. There is so much work to be done and probably not enough days to finish it before the snow starts to fly. I get up at the crack of dawn and I work straight through the whole day, stopping only when the sun goes down and it is too dark to do any more work. At night when I come into the house my whole body is still and sore from all the work and a nice hot bath is in order, even … Read entire article »
