Blue Jay

BLUE JAY written by Debbie Williamson Chester Chipmunk was walking through the forest one warm summer day. The forest floor was still damp from the rain that fell that morning. Chester noticed a rather large acorn just up ahead. He scurried along to claim it before anyone else could. He was just about to pick it up when a large bird flew over top of Chester, bent down and scooped the acorn up in his beak and flew away, landing in a nearby tree. "How come you took my acorn?" asked Chester angrily. "Gee, I don't remember seeing your name on it," said the bird. "I didn't have my name on it," said Chester. "Well then, I guess it isn't yours, then is it?" asked the bird. "I guess not," said Chester. Even though the bird was being mean, Chester … Read entire article »

Finnegan

FINNEGAN written by Debbie Williamson "Hi Chester!" said Finnegan Ferret to his friend. "Do you want to come outside and play?" "Sure," said Chester Chipmunk. "But, first I have to do my chores." "What chores do you have to do?" asked Finnegan. "I have to clean up my room," said Chester. "That shouldn't take long," said Finnegan. "Then, I have to brush my teeth and brush my fur," said Chester. "That should only take a couple of minutes," said Finnegan. "Why don't I come back later?" "Okay," said Chester. "By that time I should be ready." Finnegan started to walk back to his house. Just outside, at the end of Chester's laneway, Finnegan saw Suzie Chipmunk. "Oh hi Suzie," said Finnegan, with his head hung low. "What's wrong?" asked Suzie. "Well, I was just at your brother Chester's house," said Finnegan. "He can't … Read entire article »

Chester Chipmunk Meets Eager Eagle

CHESTER CHIPMUNK MEETS EAGER EAGLE written by Debbie Williamson "Hey there little chipmunk," Chester heard a voice say to him. Chester Chipmunk looked everywhere but he could not see where the voice was coming from. All of a sudden, the sky turned black and he saw this huge shadow down around him. Chester looked up into the sky and was shocked to see the most beautiful bald eagle hovering over him. "Hi there!" exclaimed Chester, who was more in awe of this beautiful bird than in fear. "My! You sure are a beautiful bird!" "Why thank you," said the bald eagle, landing right beside Chester. "By the way, my name is Eager Eagle. What is your name?" "I'm Chester Chipmunk," said Chester Chipmunk. "It is so nice to meet you." "The pleasure is all mine," said Eager … Read entire article »

Chester Chipmunk and the Missing Acorns

CHESTER CHIPMUNK AND THE MISSING ACORNS written by Debbie Williamson I remember the day that I was out collecting acorns to store for the winter. Tommy Blue jay came by to see me and the next thing I knew was that all my acorns were gone. Don’t you worry,” said Tommy. “I’ll find out what happened to them.” Tommy flew into the afternoon sky. He is a magnificent flyer. He circled high above a group of pine trees off to the east. Suddenly, he swooped down to a nearby stream. A few minutes later, he came back to where I was waiting. "Did you find them, Tommy?” I asked anxiously. “Did you find my acorns?” “Now, hold on there Chester!” exclaimed Tommy, out of breath. “Yes, I did find them.” "Where are they?” I asked, my cheeks … Read entire article »

Chester’s Picnic

CHESTER'S PICNIC written by Debbie Williamson ''Hey Chester,'' said his sister, Suzie. ''Wait up!'' Chester stopped walking to let Suzie catch up to him. ''What's up?'' asked Chester, as Suzie approached him. ''The animals in the forest are going to have a picnic, this Saturday,'' said Suzie, all out of breath. ''They want to know if you would like to come.'' ''I've never been to a picnic,'' said Chester. ''What is a picnic?'' ''Well,'' said Suzie. ''Picnics are fun. You bring an old blanket and a basket of food. You can play games or go swimming.'' ''That sounds like fun,'' said Chester. ''So then you'll come,'' said Suzie. ''Sure,'' said Chester. ''I'd love to come.'' Chester spent the rest of the week getting ready for the picnic. He made a loaf of his favourite bread, acorn loaf, and he made a … Read entire article »

Chester’s First Day of School

CHESTER'S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL written by Debbie Williamson “I can’t wait until tomorrow comes,” said Chester Chipmunk, to his sister as he sat on the porch of his tree-house in the forest. “What are you talking about?” asked his sister, Suzie. “Tomorrow is the first day of school.” “That is right,” said Chester. “I can’t wait.” “I remember my first day of school,” said Suzie. “I was scared.” “What is there to be scared of?” asked Chester. “I’m not scared.” “Well when I first went to school I didn’t know anyone,” said Suzie. “Mommy and Daddy had just moved to this forest when I started school.” “I guess that would make a difference,” said Chester. “For me, it will be easier because I know most of the animals in the forest already.” “Yes,” said Suzie. “I sure wish … Read entire article »

Chester Chipmunk’s Christmas

CHESTER CHIPMUNK'S CHRISTMAS written by Debbie Williamson “Oh my!” exclaimed Suzie Chipmunk, to her brother, Chester. “Look what you have done to your place. “It looks wonderful!” “Thank you Suzie,” said Chester, putting the last decoration on the tree. “I want everything to be just right for Christmas. Mom and Dad are coming.” “Everything looks just wonderful!” exclaimed Suzie. “Is there anything I can help you with?” “No,” said Chester. “I’m pretty much finished everything now. How about some Christmas cookies?” “Sounds great,” said Suzie. Chester and Suzie enjoyed the Christmas cookies that Chester had baked that afternoon. “What time does Mom and Dad get in at?” asked Suzie. “In about two hours,” said Chester. “I already called the airport.” “Well, I’d better go home and change,” said Suzie. “Okay,” said Chester. “I’ll see you soon.” Suzie went to her house, which … Read entire article »

Sammy Squirrel

SAMMY SQUIRREL written by Debbie Williamson “Oh, it is such a beautiful day today!” said Chester, peeking his head out from his home, which is located inside of an old oak tree. “I think that I should do something special.” “I know what we can do,” said Chester’s friend, Sammy Squirrel, who was sitting at the base of Chester’s tree, stuffing his face full of acorns. “We could go check out the new aquarium in town. It is just opening up today!” “That’s a wonderful idea,” said Chester. “Let’s do that.” Chester and Sammy both grabbed their sunscreen, hat and jackets. They also packed a lunch of nuts and soda pop. Walking down the street, Chester and Sammy saw quite a commotion in their little town. “Oh, Sammy!” shouted Chester, pointing beside him. “Look over there!” Sammy turned … Read entire article »
