Story 575 – Earth Day

EARTH DAY written by Debbie Williamson Environment Bug was in the park bright and early on the morning of Earth Day. He was cleaning up the park by picking up garbage and raking up leaves. “What are you doing?” asked a little girl watching Environment Bug working hard. “I’m cleaning up our park,” said Environment Bug. “Today is Earth Day.” “What exactly is Earth Day?” asked the little girl. “Earth Day is a day that we should become environmentally friendly and take some time to clean up our Earth,” said Environment Bug. “I’d like to help,” said the little girl. “How can I help?” “There are lots of things you can do to help,” said the Environment Bug. “You can plant trees, you can clean up, you can recycle goods, you can create a compost pile, there are … Read entire article »

Autumn Days

AUTUMN DAYS written by Debbie Williamson "Fawn,'' said Spot to her friend, while she was cleaning up her stall. "We should do something today. It looks like a beautiful day!'' ''Sure Spot,'' said Fawn. ''What do you feel like doing?'' ''How about going for a walk?'' asked Spot. ''We can see if the leaves have changed colour yet.'' ''That sounds like fun,'' said Fawn. ''Okay,'' said Spot. ''We'll go as soon as I am finished cleaning.'' ''How long will that be?'' asked Fawn. ''If you were to help me,'' said Spot. ''I could get it done a lot quicker.'' ''Oh alright,'' said Fawn, totally hating the idea of doing housework. ''But what if Ricky and Jenny see me helping you?'' ''They would just think you're being nice,'' said Spot. ''Gee,'' said Fawn. ''I don't know about this.'' ''Oh Fawn,'' said Spot, throwing … Read entire article »

Story 385 – The Environment Bug and Clean Air

THE ENVIRONMENT BUG AND CLEAN AIR written by Debbie Williamson “Oh dear,” said Environment Bug early one morning, while going for his daily walk. “The air in this city is terrible.” Environment Bug lives in Toronto, Ontario. However, he just came back from a vacation in the mountains in British Columbia. “I should have stayed in BC,” said Environment Bug to himself. “The air was so clean and so fresh. I haven’t sniffed air like that ever, while living in Ontario.” Toronto, Ontario is known for smog. Often times, you can see a hazy cloud sitting low over the city. This cloud is filled with pollution. With over two million people living in the city it is no wonder. So many cars, trucks and factories are contributors to the smog. I never really had a problem … Read entire article »

Story 296 – The Environment Bug and Dust

THE ENVIRONMENT BUG AND DUST written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! I am the Environment Bug. I have noticed a lot of dust lately in my home. It seems the more I clean, the more dust I get. I do not like dust. Sometimes the dust gets in my nose and into my throat. Sometimes I get a dry scratchy feeling in my throat and it makes me cough. This is all because of the dust. It is terrible. I spoke to some of my neighbours and they informed me that they are having the same problem. “Dust everywhere!” exclaimed Mrs. Centipede. “I can’t seem to get rid of it!” “Terrible, terrible dust,” said Mrs. Ant. “The worst I have ever seen.” Walking back home, I was lucky enough to find the source of the dust. … Read entire article »
