Outdoor Ice Skating

OUTDOOR ICE SKATING written by Debbie Williamson “Daddy! Daddy!” cried Jack and Melissa. “Can you take us outdoor ice skating today? We want to try out our new skates!” “Oh,” sighed Daddy. “It’s too cold out today.” “We will dress warm,” the two children cried. “The pond isn’t quite ready yet,” said Daddy. “That’s not true,” said Jack. We saw Leslie and his friends skating yesterday on the pond. You know how big Leslie is. If the pond can hold them, I’m sure it can hold us.” Leslie and his friends were in high school and they were much bigger than Jack and Melissa, who were only in elementary school. The truth of the matter was that it had been years since their Dad skated. He was afraid. He didn’t want to have to tell them that … Read entire article »

The Blizzard

THE BLIZZARD written by Debbie Williamson "Sarah!" Mother called. "Please get away from the window. Close the curtains and come on out here in the kitchen with me." Sarah had her small, chubby nose up to the window in the living-room. She had her eyes peeled to the window for the past hour. It was snowing wildly and it was very windy. She was waiting for her dad to come home from work. He was already an hour late. "Come on, Sarah," coaxed her mother. "Daddy will be home soon." "But, where is he?" five year old Sarah pouted. "He should have been here by now." Sarah joined her mother in the kitchen. She pulled out a brown leather chair and sat down at the huge oak table. "Sarah," said Mother. "Daddy is probably held up because … Read entire article »
