Story 832 – The Best Mother’s Day

THE BEST MOTHER’S DAY written by Debbie Williamson Fawn and Spot were wondering what they could do for Mrs. Hansen on Mother’s Day. They wanted to do something really special for her. She has never treated them as her barn yard animals or even as pets. Mrs. Hansen has always treated Fawn and Spot like her own children.   “I really wish I could make it to your graduation ceremony,” Fawn overheard Mrs. Hansen say to her daughter, Jenny. “I just can’t afford it right now.”   “Spot,” said Fawn. “I have the perfect idea for a gift for Mrs. Hansen. How much money do you have saved up?”   “A couple of hundred dollars,” said Spot.   “Me too,” said Fawn. “That should be enough.”   “Enough for what?” asked Spot.   “Enough to get Mrs. Hansen a plane ticket so she can … Read entire article »

Puggles

PUGGLES written by Debbie Williamson Six year old Barbara came home from school, rushed up to her bedroom and threw her backpack down on her bed. Immediately, she took out her homework. She went over to her desk and sat down. She pulled out her homework and completed it quickly, but made sure that she made no mistakes. She knew that her mother would be in to see it soon. "Imagine that," thought Barbara's favourite teddy bear, Puggles to himself. "Ever since she got that new computer for Christmas, she never plays with me anymore. She doesn't even say hello to me, either!" "Well, hello," said Barbara's mother, walking into her bedroom. "How's the homework coming?" "It's all done," said Barbara, proudly. "Here, take a look." Barbara's mother took the notebook from her daughter and looked … Read entire article »

Story 517 – Thanksgiving

THANKSGIVING written by Debbie Williamson “I am so depressed,” said Fawn. “Why?” asked Spot. “Today is Thanksgiving. We are having turkey and pumpkin pie.” “That is why I am depressed,” said Fawn. “Not about the turkey and the pumpkin pie but about the fact that it is Thanksgiving.” “I understand,” said Spot, knowing that Fawn was actually depressed about the family situation and not the actual holiday itself. “You know that Grampy would come if he could. However, BC is a long way from Ontario.” “Yes,” said Fawn. “It’s not just Grampy. It is the fact that Nanny, Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma are not here anymore either.” “Well,” said Spot. “Just because they are not here physically, doesn’t mean they can’t be here spiritually.” “Umm, I guess,” said Fawn. “It isn’t the same though. I mean we can’t talk … Read entire article »

Christmas Holiday

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY written by Debbie Williamson      "Hey Fawn," said Spot, cleaning up the kitchen. "What are you doing?"      "I don't know," said Fawn. "I'm kind of depressed."      "How could you be depressed?" asked Spot. "You just had a wonderful Christmas holiday. You got to see Grampy again, too."      "Yes," said Fawn. "That is why I'm depressed."      "Fawn," said Spot. "Sometimes I never understand you."      "Well," said Fawn. "It was great visiting with Grampy and the whole Christmas thing was wonderful too but now Grampy is gone home and Christmas is now over with already."      "Okay," said Spot. "I take that back what I just said because what you just said makes perfect sense. We all worked so hard all year long preparing for Christmas and then it is over sooner than … Read entire article »

Story 138 – Ups and Downs

UPS AND DOWNS written by Debbie Williamson Troll Baby sat in his high chair eating his favourite cereal, Trollios, when Troll Mother came into the kitchen and sat down at the table beside him. “Oh sweet innocent Troll Baby,” said Troll Mother. “You are so lucky. You have the rest of your life ahead of you. You have so many opportunities to do so much in your life.” Troll Daddy came into the kitchen and stood quietly, listening to Troll Mother talk. “Why are you sad Troll Mother?” asked Troll Baby. “I’m not really sad,” said Troll Mother. “I guess I am kind of depressed though. You see, I’m getting older and I feel that I’m a failure.” “What is a failure?” asked Troll Baby. “A failure is something that your Troll Mother is not,” said Troll Daddy, … Read entire article »
