Story 674 – Everybody Do A Little Bit

EVERYBODY DO A LITTLE BIT written by Debbie Williamson The Environment Bug was visiting with his friend, Pete, who lived in an apartment building in a big city. “It is quite warm in here,” said the Environment Bug. The Environment Bug went over to the thermostat and saw the temperature in the apartment was 82 degrees Fahrenheit. “Do you mind if I turned this down a bit?” asked the Environment Bug. “No,” said Pete. “Go ahead. I never touch it. When it gets warm in here, I just open a window.” “Pete,” said the Environment Bug. “It is good to open the window for fresh air but if it is warm in here, you should always turn the thermostat down. Do you realize the amount of energy that you are wasting?” “I never thought about that,” said Pete. “If … Read entire article »

Story 567 – Kick the Can

KICK THE CAN written by Debbie Williamson The Environment Bug was sitting on the dock enjoying the fresh air. Every once in a while a nice big trout would jump out of the lake. Environment Bug loved it. He was enjoying himself very much. All of a sudden, the Environment Bug saw a shadow behind him. He then heard a kerplunk sound. He saw a tin can floating on top of the water. He turned just in time to see a young boy trying to kick another can in the water. “What are you doing?” asked the Environment Bug, angrily. “Why are you kicking cans into the water?” “Well,” said the young boy, hands in pockets, head hung down in shame. “It was fun.” “Do you realize that you can hurt the fish that are in … Read entire article »

Story 527 – Hug A Bug

HUG A BUG written by Debbie Williamson I’m the Environment Bug. I’m not your ordinary every day little creature that is a pest to you day in and day out. What I do is very important to not only me, but you as well. I protect our environment. You are probably asking yourself how one single little bug can protect the environment and actually make a difference in this world. Well, I’ll tell you. I can’t make a difference unless you help me make a difference so, essentially we are all in this together. See, if I see someone littering or doing something to the environment that they shouldn’t I tell them about it. Story 524 – Don’t Litter

DON’T LITTER written by Debbie Williamson “Hi there!” exclaimed Environment Bug to a young boy sitting on a park bench. “Hello yourself,” said the young boy, who was eating a sandwich. “Nice day today,” said Environment Bug. “Yes,” said the boy, tossing the aluminum wrapper behind him, onto the ground. “It is a nice day.” “Why did you do that?” asked Environment Bug. “Do what?” asked the boy. “Throw your wrapper on the ground,” said Environment Bug. “Oh that,” said the boy. “I don’t know.” “You really shouldn’t do that,” said Environment Bug. “Why?” asked the boy. “Me and my friends do it all the time.” Just then a bird flew down and grabbed the wrapper in its beak. “For that reason,” said Environment Bug. “Now that poor bird is going to try eating that wrapper and could become very sick from it.” Luckily … Read entire article »

THE ENVIRONMENT BUG STRIKES AGAIN written by Debbie Williamson One hot, summer day, the Environment Bug was walking along the edge of a major highway when he noticed a car that had black smoke coming out from the back of it. The worst of it was that the wind was blowing the smoke right into his face. He started coughing. The Environment Bug went up to the driver of the car. “Excuse me,” said the Environment Bug, between coughs. “The exhaust on your car is choking me.” “And so,” said the driver. “What do I care?” “You are also polluting the air,” said the Environment Bug. “And so you think I care,” said the driver. “Look, you little insect.
