Story 675 – Fawn and Grampy

FAWN AND GRAMPY written by Debbie Williamson “Hi Grampy,” said Fawn, happily. “How are you?” “I’m fine,” said Grampy. Fawn had not seen Grampy since Great Grandpa died. “It’s just not the same without Great Grandpa, is it? asked Fawn seriously. “No,” said Grampy. “It’s not. Great Grandpa was one of a kind.” “I sure miss him,” said Fawn. “I do too,” said Grampy. Grampy pulled a can of orange pop out of his pocket and gave it to Fawn. “Gee thanks, Grampy,” said Fawn. “You’re welcome,” said Grampy. “You know Grampy,” said Fawn. “When you are here, I don’t miss Great Grandpa as much.” “Really,” said Grampy. “Yes,” said Fawn. “Maybe it’s because you look a lot like him.” “He sure was a great father,” said Grampy. “He was always there for us kids. He was always kind and warm-hearted and always ready do … Read entire article »

Grampy’s Little Green Car Helps Santa

GRAMPY'S LITTLE GREEN CAR HELPS SANTA written by Debbie Williamson It was Christmas Eve and Grampy was out driving around in his little green car, doing some last minute Christmas shopping. He was driving out of the parking lot of the shopping mall when he saw a commotion ahead of him. He carefully put on his brakes and came to a stop. Grampy got out of his little green car and walked over to where the commotion was. What he saw made him laugh so hard that he almost cried. What he saw, was Santa Claus and his sleigh stuck in the snow. "What are you laughing about?" asked Santa Claus, when he saw Grampy. "I'm laughing at you," said Grampy, petting the reindeer on the head. "Imagine, Santa Claus getting stuck in the snow. … Read entire article »

Story 636 – Fawn’s Happy Halloween Surprise

FAWN’S HAPPY HALLOWEEN SURPRISE written by Debbie Williamson “What are you doing?” asked Spot, watching Fawn try to hang something on the wall of the living room. “I’m decorating for the Halloween party,” said Fawn. “What Halloween party?” asked Spot, in horror. Spot and Jenny had been planning a surprise Halloween party for Fawn for months. Now it looked like Fawn had found out about it. Spot shot a glance over to Jenny. “I didn’t tell him,” Jenny whispered back. Spot shrugged her shoulders with a look of wonderment on her face. “I’m having a Halloween party,” said Fawn. “Why are you so surprised?” “Oh no reason,” said Spot. Spot was mortified. She went into the kitchen and Jenny followed her. “How did he find out about our surprise?” asked Spot, almost in tears. “I don’t know,” said Jenny, equally upset. “It is … Read entire article »

April Fool’s Day

APRIL FOOL'S DAY written by Debbie Williamson  (published in the March/April 2009 issue of Scouting Life Magazine) "Hey Fawn," said Spot. "Let's go outside and play in the snow." Fawn ran to the front door, saw green grass everywhere and turned to look at Spot with a weird look on his face. "April Fools!" exclaimed Spot, laughing. "By the way, we have to clean up. Grampy is coming today for a visit." "You expect me to believe that," said Fawn. "After all, it is April Fool's Day." "Suit yourself," said Spot. Fawn went into his room and decided he wasn't going to clean it. He knew Grampy wasn't coming and he also knew Spot was just playing another April Fool's Day joke on him. "Fawn," said Spot. "I baked a pie. Do you want a taste of it?" "No," said … Read entire article »

Story 564 – Easter Surprise

EASTER SURPRISE written by Debbie Williamson “Fawn,” said Spot, who was rushing around the barn quickly. “Hurry up!” “I don’t know why you are in such a hurry,” said Fawn. “It is Easter weekend,” said Spot. “I know that,” said Fawn. “Well Mr. and Mrs. Hansen are coming to the barn to have Easter dinner with us,” said Spot. “I’m trying to get the barn cleaned up.” “I guess that is a good idea,” said Fawn. “Good,” said Spot. “I’m glad you think so. I want you to clean up your room.” “I knew it,” said Fawn. “I knew there would be something I would have to do.” Fawn got up from the couch and went in his room and cleaned it up. “I want it vacuumed and dusted too,” said Spot. “Okay,” said Fawn. “I will.” Fawn did a really good job … Read entire article »

Fawn’s Best Christmas

FAWN'S BEST CHRISTMAS written by Debbie Williamson “Fawn, I have bad news for you,” said Spot. “What’s the bad news?” asked Fawn. “Did Santa’s sleigh blow up?” “Fawn, you are so bad,” said Spot, angrily. “No, Santa’s sleigh didn’t blow up!” “Did Rudolph get the flu?” asked Fawn. “Oh, you are impossible,” said Spot. “Nanny and Grampy won’t be able to make it this Christmas. Nanny is in the hospital. She is really sick.” Fawn’s face went as white as a ghost. Fawn loved Nanny and Grampy very much. “Oh my!” exclaimed Fawn, with a tear forming in the corner of his eye. “Are you sure?” “Yes, Jenny just told me,” said Spot. “Grampy was just here.” “This is serious,” said Fawn. “Grampy always comes down here to see me.” “It is serious,” said Spot. “Nanny might not make it.” “Oh no,” … Read entire article »

Story 517 – Thanksgiving

THANKSGIVING written by Debbie Williamson “I am so depressed,” said Fawn. “Why?” asked Spot. “Today is Thanksgiving. We are having turkey and pumpkin pie.” “That is why I am depressed,” said Fawn. “Not about the turkey and the pumpkin pie but about the fact that it is Thanksgiving.” “I understand,” said Spot, knowing that Fawn was actually depressed about the family situation and not the actual holiday itself. “You know that Grampy would come if he could. However, BC is a long way from Ontario.” “Yes,” said Fawn. “It’s not just Grampy. It is the fact that Nanny, Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma are not here anymore either.” “Well,” said Spot. “Just because they are not here physically, doesn’t mean they can’t be here spiritually.” “Umm, I guess,” said Fawn. “It isn’t the same though. I mean we can’t talk … Read entire article »

Come play instead.” “Fawn!” exclaimed Spot. “Look at the stuff you got all over your floor. I’ve just been spending all morning cleaning up the rest of this barn and guess what? You are going to clean your room whether you like it or not.” “Why are you getting so angry?” asked Fawn. “It is like you are expecting … Oh my goodness! Story 494 – Time Stands Still

TIME STANDS STILL written by Debbie Williamson (This story is dedicated to my mother, Mary-Anne Williamson, who passed away July 31, 2001. I love you, Mom and I miss you more and more each passing day. The pain and hurt will never go away!) “Fawn,” said Spot. “Come quick. Grampy has been hurt!” “What!” exclaimed Fawn. “How could Grampy be hurt? I just seen him yesterday.” Fawn was very distraught at the news that Grampy was hurt. Fawn loved Grampy more than anything in this world and he couldn’t bear the thought of him being hurt. “He fell down a ladder,” said Spot. “While he was helping Mr. Hansen fix the barn door yesterday.” “Oh my!” exclaimed Fawn. “Is he okay?” “He’s going to be just fine,” said Spot. “He’s up at the main house right now.” Fawn bolted … Read entire article »

Story 470 – Grampy’s Birthday

GRAMPY’S BIRTHDAY written by Debbie Williamson Grampy was outside looking at his little green car. It was a beautiful June day. The sun was shining brightly and it was warm outside. Grampy had just finished washing his little green car and was very happy about the way it looked. Grampy hung up the garden hose in the garage when he noticed something that he didn’t like. He noticed his little green car had a bald spot on it’s rear back tire. Grampy got down on his hands and knees and took a good look. “Oh my!” exclaimed Grampy, sadly. “My little green car needs new tires!” Grampy was very upset. He knew it was going to cost a lot of money for new tires. He knew he didn’t quite have enough money for the tires … Read entire article »
