Story 815 – Okanagan Connector

OKANAGAN CONNECTOR written by Debbie Williamson My latest adventure occurred in my home province, British Columbia. I went to the Kamloops airport and picked up my sidekick, Baby Patrick. He was very excited about this next adventure. “So we are going to drive the Okanagan Connector!” exclaimed Baby Patrick, excitedly. “Yes,” said Travellin’ Rick. “That is our newest adventure. We are going to travel the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, BC.” The Okanagan Connector was a massive highway project in British Columbia that helped bridge the gap between the lower mainland and the Okanagan Valley regions of British Columbia. Travellin’ Rick and Baby Patrick drove from Kamloops to Merritt and once at Merritt they drove onto the Okanagan Connector. The Okanagan Valley was a huge stretch of highway. At times you are so high up … Read entire article »

Story 814 – A Bonus Adventure

A BONUS ADVENTURE written by Debbie Williamson It was a hot, summer day. As my latest adventure, I decided I would go for a nice drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park, which is located just outside of Kamloops, BC. I had my sidekick, Baby Patrick with me. Just outside of the park, on the Paul Lake Road, I stopped the car abruptly at what I saw. “What did you do that for?” asked Baby Patrick. “Look,” I said, pointing out my window. “Awesome,” said Baby Patrick. There, on the side of the road, not twenty feet from where I stopped was a truly genuine cattle round-up. I was mesmerized by what I saw and so was Baby Patrick. There in the green grass stood a couple of horses and on those horses was a cowboy, a truly genuine … Read entire article »

Story 811 – Baby Patrick

BABY PATRICK written by Debbie Williamson “I am travelling this weekend,” said Travellin’ Rick to his agent, Bob, on the phone. “You are sending me to British Columbia.” “That is right,” said Bob. “Look, I’ve been thinking. I think you need a helper, you know, a sidekick.” “Gee,” said Travellin’ Rick. “You think so.” “Yes,” said Bob. “I think a younger person would add some further entertainment to your adventures.” “Am I, by any chance, doing something wrong?” asked Travellin’ Rick, thinking that Bob has some kind of ulterior motive in wanting to hire him a sidekick. “Oh no!” exclaimed Bob. “I will tell you the truth here. Actually, my insurance agent suggested the sidekick. He said it would be good if you had a partner with you in case something went wrong. Your sidekick would be there to help you … Read entire article »

That river is home to not only animals and fish but also to the River Man. River Man lives in a tent by the river and he lives there all year round.   River Man is rugged looking. He has a thick white beard and moustache. His hair is just as white and it is long and scraggily. His clothes are worn and tattered. The River Man goes about his business, chopping firewood, cooking his meals and cleaning up his campsite as cars drive by him on the highway. Story 328 – Travellin’ Rick Goes Camping

TRAVELLIN’ RICK GOES CAMPING written by Debbie Williamson Hi! I just want to tell you about my latest adventure. I just got back from Kamloops, British Columbia. I went camping there for one whole week and I had the adventure of my life. Just east of Kamloops off the Yellowhead Highway, is the most beautiful campground that I have ever been to in my entire life. The name of this campground is called Paul Lake Provincial Park. Paul Lake Provincial Park has about 100 campsites, yet is so remote and so absolutely beautiful. While camping at Paul Lake, I felt like I was in the wilderness and I felt like I was right in the middle of no-where, which, I pretty much was. I arrived at the campground at about 10:00 am on a Monday … Read entire article »

Santa Claus Parade

SANTA CLAUS PARADE written by Debbie Williamson November 26, 2005 – Kamloops, BC Santa Claus Parade I was watching the news on television the other night when the announcer talked about the upcoming Santa Claus Parade. Oh, I got so excited! I wanted to see Santa so bad. I had a bone to pick with him and this would be the perfect time to do it. That Saturday morning, I got up early and dressed in layers of warm clothing. Nothing was going to stop me from going to see Santa, nothing at all. I got to the parade very early that day and stood at the edge of the road, waiting and waiting. While I was waiting, I looked around at the downtown streets of Kamloops, BC. There were tons of people at the … Read entire article »

Story 794 – Arrow, the Torch Bearer

ARROW, THE TORCH BEARER written by Debbie Williamson Mommy had just bought a pair of red Olympic mittens because she was going to go to the torch run in Kamloops, BC on the morning of January 28, 2010. She laid the bag with the mittens in them, on her computer desk and started cooking dinner. Meanwhile, Arrow, a one year old black and white cat, decided he was going to see what was in the bag. He jumped on Mommy’s computer desk and put his head right inside the bag and sniffed it. “Mittens,” said Arrow to himself. “Mommy bought me a pair of Olympic red mittens.” Arrow dragged the bag off the desk and took the mittens out and tried them on. “Gee,” he said. “They are kind of big. Oh well, they will be … Read entire article »
