BOBBY BEAR written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! I am a bear and my name is Bobby. I live in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada and I love it here. Being a bear, I can climb tall mountains all day long. Being a bear, I can swim in rivers until my heart’s content. Being a bear, I can fish for fresh salmon until I’m full. Being a bear, I can find some food in someone’s tent. Being a bear, I can eat fresh blueberries all summer long. Being a bear, I can run and jump in the fields all I want. Being a bear, I can climb the tallest trees in the land. Being a bear, I can search for food at the back of a restaurant. Being a bear, I can walk on all fours or stand straight and … Read entire article »

Story 319 – Mother’s Day in the Mountains

MOTHER’S DAY IN THE MOUNTAINS written by Debbie Williamson “Gee,” said Poor Mountain Father. “Mother’s Day is coming up. What are we going to do for Poor Mountain Mother?” “Well,” said Poor Mountain Sister. “I could cook breakfast.” “And,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “I could do the dishes.” “Okay,” said Poor Mountain Father. “That sounds good.” “So,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “What are you going to do for Poor Mountain Mother on Mother’s Day?” “Well,” said Poor Mountain Father. “I have an idea up my sleeve and I think Poor Mountain Mother is going to love it.” “Oh no,” said Poor Mountain Sister. “Not the airplane ride! Poor Mountain Mother told you she doesn’t want to go up in an airplane.” “No,” said Poor Mountain Father. “Not an airplane. A helicopter!” “Cool,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “How can you say that?” … Read entire article »

Story 312 – Little Green Men

LITTLE GREEN MEN written by Debbie Williamson The Poor Mountain Family were outside their log cabin in British Columbia, Canada, when they heard a commotion coming from about a hundred feet from where they were standing. “What was that?” asked Poor Mountain Mother. “I’m not sure,” said Poor Mountain Father. “I think I should go and check it out though.” “Well,” said Poor Mountain Sister, standing right beside her father. “You aren’t leaving me here. I’m coming with you.” “Me too,” said Poor Mountain Mother. “Well so am I,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “I’m not staying here all by myself.” The Poor Mountain Family walked toward the direction of the noise and were totally shocked at what they saw. There, in the middle of a small field stood a group of little green men, singing and dancing. “What on … Read entire article »

Story 311 – Mountain Goat

MOUNTAIN GOAT written by Debbie Williamson “Hi Spot!” exclaimed Fawn, just getting up out of bed. “Good morning Fawn,” said Spot. “How are you this morning?” “Great!” exclaimed Fawn, looking out the window at the morning sun just rising over the mountain top. “It sure is beautiful here,” said Spot. “Absolutely,” said Fawn. “I’m so glad we now live in British Columbia.” “Yes,” said Spot. “Me too!” “So,” said Fawn. “Let’s take advantage of this beautiful spring day and go for a walk.” “Sure,” said Spot. “I’d love to.” Fawn and Spot got ready to take a nice long walk. Spot packed a picnic lunch too. “Let’s go!” exclaimed Fawn. Fawn and Spot walked out of the barn and the site before them was just breathtaking. They had a mountain right about a mile from the barn. Just in front of the … Read entire article »

ST. PATRICK’S DAY FUN written by Debbie Williamson “Hi Poor Mountain Father,” said Poor Mountain Sister as she was eating her breakfast. “What are you doing up so early?” asked Poor Mountain Father. “It isn’t that early,” said Poor Mountain Sister. “I’ve got to get ready for school.” “School!” exclaimed Poor Mountain Father. “There is no school today!” “What?” asked Poor Mountain Sister, looking up at the calendar. “Yeah,” said Poor Mountain Brother, coming down the stairs. “Today is St. Patrick’s Day!” “Oh yes,” said Poor Mountain Sister. “Today is the day Larry Leprechaun is visiting us. I almost forgot.” “Well,” said Poor Mountain Father. “Since you are both awake now, you may as well get dressed. Me and My Bald Eagle

ME AND MY BALD EAGLE written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone! I want to tell you about my bald eagle. Now, he really isn't my bald eagle, but I can pretend that he is. Every day after work, I have about a half an hour wait for the bus to take me home. Across the highway from where I work is a river and at the bank of the river is two very tall trees. One afternoon, I was totally shocked to see a bald eagle sitting in the furthest tree. I watched him while I waited for the bus and he just sat there. It was quite a sight to see. He is the most beautiful eagle I have ever seen and he looks very healthy. See, for me, that eagle represents freedom … Read entire article »
