Poor Mountain Father

POOR MOUNTAIN FATHER The Poor Mountain Family were a set of characters that I created back in 2005 when I moved to British Columbia, Canada. I wanted a set of characters in which they respect each other as a family through thick and thin. Poor Mountain Father is the head of the Poor Mountain Family. He may not have much money but he still provides for his family as best as he can under the circumstances. Poor Mountain Father wanted a better life for his children. He wanted them to grow up in the fresh air of the mountains and not have to put up with pollution and noise. Poor Mountain Father is very kind and generous and not just generous with money, which he doesn’t have a lot of. He knows how … Read entire article »

Anticipation

ANTICIPATION written by Debbie Williamson Poor Mountain Sister sat in her room, reading her book. She couldn't really concentrate on it because she had other things on her mind. Tomorrow was Poor Mountain Sister's birthday and she was very excited about it. Her mother and father had promised her a birthday party. She thought about how pretty she was going to look at her birthday party in her new dress that Poor Mountain Mother had just sewn for her. She thought about her friends and how she was going to have so much fun with them. She thought about the food and the birthday cake. Oh, Poor Mountain Sister was so excited she couldn't think of anything else. The next morning Poor Mountain Sister got up very early in the morning. She wanted to … Read entire article »

Story 441 – Poor Mountain Family’s Easter

POOR MOUNTAIN FAMILY’S EASTER written by Debbie Williamson “Come on, wake up,” said Poor Mountain Brother to Poor Mountain Sister. “It’s Easter morning. Come on, we have to look for our Easter gifts.” “You heard what Poor Mountain Mother said to Poor Mountain Father last night,” said Poor Mountain Sister, sleepily. “There isn’t going to be an Easter this year. They haven’t any money.” “Okay,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “I heard what Poor Mountain Father said, but then how do you explain the rabbit tracks that are out in our front yard?” “Rabbit tracks,” said Poor Mountain Sister, now wide awake. “Where?” “I’ll show you,” said Poor Mountain Brother. Poor Mountain Sister grabbed her housecoat and threw on her slippers quickly and followed Poor Mountain Brother downstairs. Poor Mountain Brother opened up the front door of the … Read entire article »

I haven’t really had much time to think about it, but what about a barn dance.” “A barn dance,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “Now, that would be fun.” “I could play the fiddle,” said Poor Mountain Father. “Well if you play the fiddle,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “Then, who is going to dance with Poor Mountain Mother.” “You,” said Poor Mountain Father. “You can dance with her.” “I don’t know how to square dance,” asked Poor Mountain Brother. “I can teach you,” said Poor Mountain Father. “That would be great,” said Poor Mountain Brother. Story 394 – Poor Mountain Family’s Halloween

POOR MOUNTAIN FAMILY’S HALLOWEEN written by Debbie Williamson Poor Mountain Father was on his way home from work, one dark Halloween night, when he saw something that caught his attention. What he saw was a glowing object that seemed to be coming from a large tree. Poor Mountain Father walked over to the object and when he saw what it was he laughed so hard that he almost fell over. “What are you?” asked Poor Mountain Father. “I’m a ghost,” said the object. “A real live ghost,” said Poor Mountain Father, shaking his head in disbelief. “Yes,” said the ghost. “I’m a real live ghost. My name is Jack.” Jack stuck his hand out for Poor Mountain Father to shake. Poor Mountain Father tried to shake it but couldn’t. Jack laughed at him. “You can’t shake my hand,” … Read entire article »

WOODEN ROCKING HORSES written by Debbie Williamson Poor Mountain Father was outside one bright November day. He had a lot to think about and just wanted to be by himself so he took a walk through the forest and up to his favorite spot in the mountain. Poor Mountain Father had no money and he was very depressed about this. Christmas was coming up soon and he wanted to be able to buy his children something special. As Poor Mountain Father walked, he came across a field full of horses. He stood there for a moment watching the horses playing together. They were enjoying themselves immensely. That got Poor Mountain Father to thinking about a horse that he had as a child. It wasn't a real horse. It was a wooden rocking horse. His … Read entire article »

Happy Canada Day

HAPPY CANADA DAY written by Debbie Williamson "Poor Mountain Mother," said Poor Mountain Father. "We should do something special this weekend." "Good idea," said Poor Mountain Mother, putting away the dinner dishes.  "After all it is Canada Day." "Yes," said Poor Mountain Father. "I have an idea. How about we go for a nice picnic?" "Oh," said Poor Mountain Mother. "A picnic would be so much fun." "So that is what we will do," said Poor Mountain Father. "We can go to our favourite mountain spot." "Yes," laughed Poor Mountain Mother. "Let's do that." Poor Mountain Father and Poor Mountain Mother loved their favourite mountain spot. The reason for that is because their favourite mountain spot just happened to be on their very own property. When Poor Mountain Sister and Poor Mountain Brother came inside from playing outdoors, their parents told … Read entire article »

Story 316 – Money Problems

POOR MOUNTAIN FATHER’S MONEY PROBLEMS written by Debbie Williamson “I’ve got no money for Poor Mountain Sister’s birthday,” said Poor Mountain Father, sadly one morning at the breakfast table. “Gee,” said Poor Mountain Mother, drying her hands on a tea-towel. “It is only a week away and she really wanted a pony for her birthday.” “Well,” said Poor Mountain Father. “A pony she is going to get.” Poor Mountain Father went into town that morning and stopped by the bank.
