Story 874 – Pumpkin Patch

PUMPKIN PATCH written by Debbie Williamson “We must go to the pumpkin patch to pick out our Halloween pumpkin,” said Poor Mountain Mother. “Halloween is tomorrow.” “We could go right now,” said Poor Mountain Father. “I have nothing planned for this morning.” Poor Mountain Mother grabbed her coat and her and Poor Mountain Father walked down the laneway to their pumpkin patch. They held hands tightly letting each other know that they were still very upset about the fact that someone broke into their home the night before and stole the money that they had set aside to get their bills paid off. “Oh my!” exclaimed Poor Mountain Mother, when she saw the pumpkin patch. “What happened here? Story 639 – Me and My Pumpkin

ME AND MY PUMPKIN written by Debbie Williamson Grandpa and Stacey were carving the Halloween pumpkin together. Grandpa’s mind went back to a time when he was younger, much younger, when he was standing beside his Grandpa, carving the Halloween pumpkin. “You know Stacey,” said Grandpa. “I remember standing beside my Grandpa carving our Halloween pumpkin.” “You do?” asked Stacey. “Yes,” said Grandpa. “I may be old but I can still remember a lot of things.” Stacey laughed. “One year, I think I was seven years old,” said Grandpa. “I had spent the whole summer watching my pumpkin grow. Story 236 – The Lonely Pumpkin

THE LONELY PUMPKIN written by Debbie Williamson The Poor Mountain Family climbed into their pickup truck and drove into town. “How are we going to get a pumpkin for Halloween?” asked Poor Mountain Mother. “We don’t have any money?” “Well I haven’t quite got that figured out yet,” said Poor Mountain Father. “I promised the children I’d get them a pumpkin and I’m not going to go back on my promise.” “That is true,” said Poor Mountain Mother. There is one thing to be said about mountain families and that is if they make you a promise they will always keep that promise, no matter what. “Oh look at all the pumpkins,” said Poor Mountain Sister, climbing out of the pickup truck. “There are tons of them,” said Poor Mountain Brother. “Oh I can’t wait to carve a … Read entire article »

Old Jack

OLD JACK written by Debbie Williamson Once upon a very long time ago, there lived a great big pumpkin. I can remember walking down that old country road and seeing that poor old pumpkin just sitting in the pumpkin patch. Nobody else wanted him because he was just too big and it would have been too much work to clean and carve him. Ah, old Jack.  He sure was a handsome pumpkin.  I decided right then and there, that I just had to have that pumpkin.  I picked up that pumpkin and I carried him all the way home, all by myself. He was a very heavy pumpkin and I just about broke my back getting him home but, I made it safely. I lived in an old log cabin all by myself. I … Read entire article »
