Travellin’ Rick Talks to Santa

TRAVELLIN' RICK TALKS TO SANTA written by Debbie Williamson Travellin' Rick was sitting on a park bench one warm autumn day. An elderly man was sitting next to him. "I guess you don't know who I am?" asked the man. "No," said Travellin' Rick. "I'm sorry but I don't." "Well," said the man. "That isn't important anyway. What is important is whether you have been good this year." "I have been good," said Travellin' Rick. "I've been so busy working that I haven't had time to get into any trouble." "Glad to hear it," said the man. "It isn't really good to be working all the time though," said Travellin' Rick. "I need a vacation. I'm getting pretty worn out these days." "Gee," said the man, handing Travellin' Rick a business card. "Take this and come visit me." Travellin' Rick … Read entire article »

Grampy’s Little Green Car Helps Santa

GRAMPY'S LITTLE GREEN CAR HELPS SANTA written by Debbie Williamson It was Christmas Eve and Grampy was out driving around in his little green car, doing some last minute Christmas shopping. He was driving out of the parking lot of the shopping mall when he saw a commotion ahead of him. He carefully put on his brakes and came to a stop. Grampy got out of his little green car and walked over to where the commotion was. What he saw made him laugh so hard that he almost cried. What he saw, was Santa Claus and his sleigh stuck in the snow. "What are you laughing about?" asked Santa Claus, when he saw Grampy. "I'm laughing at you," said Grampy, petting the reindeer on the head. "Imagine, Santa Claus getting stuck in the snow. … Read entire article »

Santa’s Castle

SANTA'S CASTLE written by Debbie Williamson Hi there!  I am here to share my latest adventure with you, and what an adventure it was! I arrived at the airport in the North Pole, late one evening.  Snow was everywhere.  Once I was firmly on the ground, I hired a dog team from an Inuit fellow.  The dog team was supposed to take me to Santa's castle, but they kept getting lost.  After many unsuccessful attempts, I traded the team to an Inuit family that I had met.  I took my belongings from the sled and went on my own. I walked around for what seemed like days.  I was tired, cold and hungry.  The weight of my heavy furs began to get to me.  However, because I was all the way out in the … Read entire article »

Santa is Confused

SANTA IS CONFUSED written by Debbie Williamson One spring day, it turned very cold. In fact, it turned so cold that it snowed. Soon, snow covered the green grass and the new buds that were forming on the trees. Santa Claus was in his castle, way up in the North Pole. Now, if you thought that it was cold down here where we are, then you could imagine how could it was in the North Pole! It was freezing! Santa got up from his bed and looked out the window. "My, look at that!" exclaimed Santa Claus. "It is snowing out! It must be Christmas, again! I'd better get the elves working on those toys, and fast. We haven't much time to waste!" Santa Claus got dressed in his red suit and he went downstairs. He … Read entire article »

The First Christmas

THE FIRST CHRISTMAS written by Debbie Williamson Caveman Jack was walking through a heavily forested area of British Columbia, Canada. He had never been to this part of the forest before so everything was all new to him. Caveman Jack was just about to turn around and leave when he heard a voice behind him. "How come you are walking through my forest?" asked an older man with a beard as white as snow. "I'm sorry," said Caveman Jack. "I didn't know this was your forest." "Oh I see," said the man. "So you've never been here before." "No," said Caveman Jack. "I haven't. I think I'm a little lost because I was trying to find hunting area for my family for this winter but I think I may have gone a little too far." "Well," said … Read entire article »

My Alien Friend

MY ALIEN FRIEND written by Debbie Williamson I have had so much fun this past few weeks, playing with my new computer that I got for Christmas. I must have been really good last year or maybe Santa is just getting senile. I surfed the net, did some online banking and then decided to check out my email. “Oh look,” I said to myself. “My first email message. I wonder who could have sent me it. Well, there is only one way to find out!” Quickly, I moved the mouse across the screen and clicked on the icon. “Hello there planet Earth!” I read excitedly. “How’s life treating you?” “Weird,” I thought aloud. I quickly started typing in a response. “Hello to you out there, wherever you are,” I typed quickly. “Life here on Earth is great! Where … Read entire article »

Racum Almost Missed Christmas

RACUM ALMOST MISSED CHRISTMAS written by Debbie Williamson Racum went out to get some kindling and it turned very cold. He almost missed Christmas.         Once upon a time there was a little raccoon.  His name was Racum.  Racum was just an ordinary raccoon, who loved to play with his friends and eat good food like chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. He, like all his other raccoon friends, loved Christmas. He loved to receive presents and he loved to give presents, especially to his Mother and Father.      Racum, however, almost slept through Christmas one year. That was a year that he would never forget. This was how the tale went:       One year, I believe it was the year 1985, it turned very cold, very fast. Racum had been gathering some kindling out … Read entire article »

Christmas Safety

CHRISTMAS SAFETY written by Debbie Williamson I was recently visiting with Travellin' Rick. Travellin' Rick is a character from the Bed Tyme Tales website. Travellin' Rick has visited Santa Claus several times and I thought he was the perfect one to get some Christmas safety tips. "Hi Safety Kid," said Travellin' Rick as I stepped off the airplane in British Columbia, Canada. "It sure is nice to meet you." "You too," I said, shaking Travellin' Rick's outstretched hand. "I've been looking forward to this visit. I can't wait to see Santa Claus!" "Yes," said Travellin' Rick. "Santa Claus is quite a character." From the airport Travellin' Rick and I hopped on a small aircraft and flew to Alaska and then from there we took a pack of sled dogs and a young Inuit guide and started … Read entire article »

Christmas in the Mountains

CHRISTMAS IN THE MOUNTAINS written by Debbie Williamson Merry Christmas everyone! I live in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada. Today is a special day in the mountains. Today is the day that the forest animals are going to have their Christmas in the mountains celebration. I am taking a Christmas tree and gifts to all the forest animals. We are going to have a Christmas feast like no other feast. See, I am Santa Claus and it is my duty to make sure that everyone celebrates Christmas, including furry friend or foe. I parked my sleigh in the middle of a clearing that the forest animals have prepared for my arrival. The animals all gathered around waiting for me and my elves to get out of the sleigh. "Oh my!" I exclaimed to Mrs. … Read entire article »

Santa in the Laundromat

SANTA IN THE LAUNDROMAT written by Debbie Williamson It was a hot, July afternoon in San Francisco, California. I entered the laundromat with my arms full. I had about a weeks worth of dirty clothes to wash. As I laid my basket down, I noticed a very chunky man standing in the middle of the laundry mat, in long red underwear. Since this was California, I didn't think too much about it. One never knew what to expect living in California. I loaded my clothes into the washing machine, added the proper amount of laundry detergent, popped the required number of quarters into the machine, closed the lid and went and sat down in one of the chairs. While I was waiting for the machine to complete its cycle, I found myself staring … Read entire article »
