Story 587 – Wide Awake

WIDE AWAKE written by Debbie Williamson Fawn was in his bed, tossing and turning so much that he ended up waking Spot, who was sound asleep in the next room. “Fawn,” said Spot, sleepily. “What is the matter with you? Your tossing and turning woke me up.” “I can’t sleep,” said Fawn. “I’m wide awake.” “Try counting sheep,” said Spot, going back to bed. Fawn woke Spot up again a few minutes later.  “What happened to the sheep?” asked Spot. “Well,” said Fawn. “The first two sheep were okay but sheep numbers three and four kept getting stuck on the fence.” “Oh,” said Spot, too tired to laugh. “Try counting french-fries.” Fawn tried counting french-fries but he still couldn’t get to sleep. Spot came in a few minutes later. “What happened to the french fries?” asked Spot. “Well they looked so good … Read entire article »

Chester’s Picnic

CHESTER'S PICNIC written by Debbie Williamson ''Hey Chester,'' said his sister, Suzie. ''Wait up!'' Chester stopped walking to let Suzie catch up to him. ''What's up?'' asked Chester, as Suzie approached him. ''The animals in the forest are going to have a picnic, this Saturday,'' said Suzie, all out of breath. ''They want to know if you would like to come.'' ''I've never been to a picnic,'' said Chester. ''What is a picnic?'' ''Well,'' said Suzie. ''Picnics are fun. You bring an old blanket and a basket of food. You can play games or go swimming.'' ''That sounds like fun,'' said Chester. ''So then you'll come,'' said Suzie. ''Sure,'' said Chester. ''I'd love to come.'' Chester spent the rest of the week getting ready for the picnic. He made a loaf of his favourite bread, acorn loaf, and he made a … Read entire article »

Bed Bugs

BED BUGS written by Debbie Williamson "Good night, Timmy," said Mommy, as she bent over and gave him a kiss and hug. "Good night, Mommy," said Timmy. "Aren't you forgetting something?" Mother looked blank for a moment. "Oh yes," she finally said. "Don't let the bed bugs bite!" "Whew!" exclaimed Timmy as he heard all the bed bugs scurry back to their hiding place. "Mommy almost forgot to say it." Bed bugs are nasty creatures with terrible bites. Their favourite hiding place is under a bed. If a bed bug is told not to bite, they will not bite. If the day came around that the bed bugs weren't told not to bite, well, we all know what would happen. Timmy had a good night's sleep that night. The next night, Timmy's parents had hired a babysitter. They had … Read entire article »

Story 112 – Good Dreams, Bad Dreams

GOOD DREAMS, BAD DREAMS written by Debbie Williamson ”Spot,” said Fawn. ”I had a terrible dream last night. It was just awful!” ”I had a really nice dream last night,” said Spot. ”I dreamt I was in a field of beautiful daisies. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. It was so warm, too. It was really nice!” ”Well Spot,” said Fawn. ”I am really happy for you. While I’m having real bad nightmares, you are in lawdy-dawdy land, having good dreams. It’s just not fair.” “Oh Fawn,” said Spot. ”I am sorry.” ”Sure!” exclaimed Fawn. “If you really were sorry, you would have waken me up last night while I was dreaming.” ”Now Fawn,” said Spot. ”How can I wake you up when you’re dreaming? How am I supposed to know when you are … Read entire article »
