Travellin’ Rick Visits an Airport

TRAVELLIN' RICK VISITS AN AIRPORT written by Debbie Williamson “Hello there, everyone,” said Travellin’ Rick, carrying a large suitcase under his arms. “I’m going on a trip in an airplane. Why don’t you join me? I’ve got a few more things to do, so grab your suitcase and meet me on my front porch.” Travellin’ Rick set his suitcase down by the front door and picked up the telephone. “This is Travellin’ Rick, calling,” said Travellin’ Rick into the receiver. “I need a taxi to come and pick me up and take me to the airport.” Once he finished the telephone call, Travellin’ Rick locked all the windows and doors. He also made sure that his plants had plenty of water. Picking up his suitcase once again, Travellin Rick stood outside on his front porch. “Well, … Read entire article »

Travellin’ Rick Talks to Santa

TRAVELLIN' RICK TALKS TO SANTA written by Debbie Williamson Travellin' Rick was sitting on a park bench one warm autumn day. An elderly man was sitting next to him. "I guess you don't know who I am?" asked the man. "No," said Travellin' Rick. "I'm sorry but I don't." "Well," said the man. "That isn't important anyway. What is important is whether you have been good this year." "I have been good," said Travellin' Rick. "I've been so busy working that I haven't had time to get into any trouble." "Glad to hear it," said the man. "It isn't really good to be working all the time though," said Travellin' Rick. "I need a vacation. I'm getting pretty worn out these days." "Gee," said the man, handing Travellin' Rick a business card. "Take this and come visit me." Travellin' Rick … Read entire article »

Story 816 – Ashcroft, BC

ASHCROFT, BC written by Debbie Williamson Baby Patrick and Travellin’ Rick were in the car together, when Travellin’ Rick got the call from his boss, Bob. “You and Baby Patrick up for another adventure,” said Bob. “Hold on,” said Travellin’ Rick. “I will ask Baby Patrick. He is sitting right here beside me. Where will this adventure be?” “Ashcroft,” said Bob. “Apparently, there is some graffiti on the side of the mountain I want you to check out.” Travellin’ Rick asked Baby Patrick about going to Ashcroft. Baby Patrick wanted to see this graffiti that Bob talked about. “So we are off to Ashcroft,” said Travellin’ Rick when he hung up the phone . “Why do people graffiti?” asked Baby Patrick, on the way to Ashcroft. “I don’t know,” said Travellin’ Rick. Autumn Leaves

AUTUMN LEAVES written by Debbie Williamson Hey kids, please join me on my latest adventure. I want to see some autumn leaves. Travellin' Rick grabbed his camera and a picnic lunch and headed out in his car. He headed north and travelled up from Kingston, Ontario to Sharbot Lake, Ontario which was about 45 minutes away. Once in Sharbot Lake, Travellin' Rick travelled north on Highway 509. There were a lot of nice little towns in that area, Snow Road, Ardoch, Ompah just to name a few. It was a warm autumn day. As soon as Travellin' Rick got onto Highway 509 he noticed the beautiful autumn colours. The trees were a bright red, orange and brown colour. He was so happy he had taken this drive. Travellin' Rick was not alone on this adventure. … Read entire article »

Story 815 – Okanagan Connector

OKANAGAN CONNECTOR written by Debbie Williamson My latest adventure occurred in my home province, British Columbia. I went to the Kamloops airport and picked up my sidekick, Baby Patrick. He was very excited about this next adventure. “So we are going to drive the Okanagan Connector!” exclaimed Baby Patrick, excitedly. “Yes,” said Travellin’ Rick. “That is our newest adventure. We are going to travel the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, BC.” The Okanagan Connector was a massive highway project in British Columbia that helped bridge the gap between the lower mainland and the Okanagan Valley regions of British Columbia. Travellin’ Rick and Baby Patrick drove from Kamloops to Merritt and once at Merritt they drove onto the Okanagan Connector. The Okanagan Valley was a huge stretch of highway. At times you are so high up … Read entire article »

Story 814 – A Bonus Adventure

A BONUS ADVENTURE written by Debbie Williamson It was a hot, summer day. As my latest adventure, I decided I would go for a nice drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park, which is located just outside of Kamloops, BC. I had my sidekick, Baby Patrick with me. Just outside of the park, on the Paul Lake Road, I stopped the car abruptly at what I saw. “What did you do that for?” asked Baby Patrick. “Look,” I said, pointing out my window. “Awesome,” said Baby Patrick. There, on the side of the road, not twenty feet from where I stopped was a truly genuine cattle round-up. I was mesmerized by what I saw and so was Baby Patrick. There in the green grass stood a couple of horses and on those horses was a cowboy, a truly genuine … Read entire article »

Story 625 – 9/11

9/11 written by Debbie Williamson Hello everyone! It is with my deepest sympathy and sorrow that I bring you my latest adventure. I sat in horror in front of my television, as I watched the World Trade Centre in New York, being so viciously and senselessly attacked on the morning of September 11, 2001. Then just shortly after that incident, the Pentagon was attacked. We here in Canada, consider the United States our friends. We mourn with them in this terrible tragedy. Canadians have shared many tragedies with the United States. The death of President Kennedy, the Challenger disaster, the Oklahoma bombing, the Waco Texas standoff and the Columbine High School shootings. None of those tragedies come close to the extent of this one. My first reaction to these horrific events was anger. This quickly subsided … Read entire article »

TRAVELLIN’ RICK GOES TO THE MALL written by Debbie Williamson Hi everyone. I sure hope you have been enjoying your summer vacation. I know that I have, although it seems to be just flying by. Already it seems to be the time to think about getting the kids ready to go back to school. I am going with a friend, Melanie, to the mall. Melanie has a little boy, Jeffrey, that is going to be starting his first year of school in September. We are going to buy Jeffrey some clothes for back to school. “Now Jeffrey,” said Melanie to her son when they got into my car. ”This is very nice of Travellin’ Rick to offer to take us to the mall. Story 811 – Baby Patrick

BABY PATRICK written by Debbie Williamson “I am travelling this weekend,” said Travellin’ Rick to his agent, Bob, on the phone. “You are sending me to British Columbia.” “That is right,” said Bob. “Look, I’ve been thinking. I think you need a helper, you know, a sidekick.” “Gee,” said Travellin’ Rick. “You think so.” “Yes,” said Bob. “I think a younger person would add some further entertainment to your adventures.” “Am I, by any chance, doing something wrong?” asked Travellin’ Rick, thinking that Bob has some kind of ulterior motive in wanting to hire him a sidekick. “Oh no!” exclaimed Bob. “I will tell you the truth here. Actually, my insurance agent suggested the sidekick. He said it would be good if you had a partner with you in case something went wrong. Your sidekick would be there to help you … Read entire article »
