Story 761 – Halloween Story

HALLOWEEN STORY written by Debbie Williamson I used to love going trick-or-treating as a kid. When I was a kid we usually made homemade costumes. I remember one year my Mother made me a costume from scratch. It was a very pretty costume too. She made me a princess costume. I had a lace shawl and she made a crown out of cardboard and we decorated it with gold paint and fake jewels. Mom even let me have makeup on my face. Mom told me I was a very pretty princess. I remember my sister and I would walk from house to house with our little pillow cases. We usually ended up getting almost a full pillow case each of candy. Sometimes we got candy apples as a treat and cans of pop … Read entire article »

Halloween Celebration

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION written by Debbie Williamson "I think this year for Halloween we should have some fun with the children," said Poor Mountain Father, after the Poor Mountain children and left for school. "Like what kind of fun?" asked Poor Mountain Mother. "Well," said Poor Mountain Father. "It is really difficult for the children to go trick-or-treating here in the mountains so, I was thinking, we should have a little party for them instead." "That sounds like a really fun idea," said Poor Mountain Mother. "I could bake a Halloween cake." "Oh that would be really great," said Poor Mountain Father. "The children would love it. I was also thinking that we could play some games and carve a pumpkin." Poor Mountain Mother and Poor Mountain Father were very excited about their plan for a Halloween party … Read entire article »

SILLY FRED FORGETS THE HALLOWEEN TREATS written by Debbie Williamson Fred was sitting in his living room reading the newspaper and just relaxing after a hard day at work. “Fred,” said Sarah. “Come on it is Halloween. The kids will be at our door for trick-or-treating anytime now.” “Um Halloween,” said Fred, with a lump in his throat all of a sudden. “Fred,” said Sarah. “You did remember to get the Halloween treats today didn’t you?” “Oh of course I did,” said Fred, getting up off his chair and heading out the front door quickly. Story 393 – Spooky Alley

SPOOKY ALLEY written by Debbie Williamson It was Halloween night and Douglas showed up at Eunice’s door with his trick-or-treat bag wide open hoping to get some more candy. As soon as Eunice saw him, she dragged him by the arm and pulled him inside. “Douglas,” said Eunice. “What are you doing trick-or-treating at my door? I thought we were going to go trick-or-treating together. Remember our plans.” “Yes Eunice,” said Douglas. “I remember your plans. I never totally agreed on them.” “You are such a chicken,” said Eunice, angrily, putting her hands on her hips and pouting. “You stood right in the school playground at lunch and told me you would go with me.” “Yes,” said Douglas. “I did tell you that because I don’t want you going to Spooky Alley all by yourself. However, … Read entire article »

Story 379 – Halloween Safety

HALLOWEEN SAFETY written by Debbie Williamson I was recently visiting with Old Jack, one Halloween night. Old Jack is a jack-o-lantern from the story Old Jack, on the Bed Tyme Tales website. Old Jack has seen many, many Halloweens and I thought he was the perfect one to visit to get some Halloween safety tips. “So, Safety Kid,” said Old Jack. “Halloween can be a lot of fun but you do have to be very careful. Take for instance myself. I only use the small votive candles inside me but others do use the larger candles. They can be very dangerous if they were knocked over by accident.” “True,” I said, knowing that Old Jack was right. “Votive candles are much safer.” “And talk about safety,” said Old Jack, pointing to a child walking up … Read entire article »

Story 371 – Fawn is Afraid to Trick-or-Treat

FAWN IS AFRAID TO TRICK-OR-TREAT written by Debbie Williamson “Fawn,” said Spot. “You haven’t got your costume on. Come on. I thought you wanted to go trick-or-treating.” “I’m not going,” said Fawn. “What!” exclaimed Spot. “You mean you got me all dressed up in this costume for nothing. I was the one that didn’t want to go in the first place.” “I have a good reason why I don’t want to go,” said Fawn, handing Spot a newspaper clipping. Spot the read the news article about how some people were poisoning the candy that they were handing out on Halloween night. The article mentioned that a little girl got terribly sick last Halloween and ended up in the hospital. “That is horrible!” exclaimed Spot. “No wonder you don’t want to go trick-or-treating. I don’t want to go … Read entire article »

Story 365 – Spooky Day

SPOOKY DAY written by Debbie Williamson “Hello,” said Fawn on Halloween morning. “How are you?” Spot turned around and when she saw Fawn’s face, she burst into a fit of laughter. He had a pig’s face as a mask on. “Fawn,” laughed Spot. “It’s too early to be dressed up for Halloween.” “Too early,” said Fawn. “What are you talking about? Today is Halloween, isn’t it?” “Yes it is,” said Spot. “But, you don’t go trick-or-treating until tonight.” “What good is that?” asked Fawn, taking his mask off. “I don’t want to wait. I wanted to go trick-or-treating right now.” “You can’t,” said Spot. “No-one will have any candy to give you because no-one will be expecting you to come until tonight. Besides, being night time is half the fun of Halloween.” “I guess that’s true,” said Fawn. “That … Read entire article »

Fawn’s Mask

FAWN'S MASK written by Debbie Williamson Once upon a time, there lived two cows on a farm in Mountain Grove, Ontario. Their names were Fawn and Spot. Fawn was a tan coloured cow and Spot was a black and white coloured cow. "Fawn!" Spot yelled. "What are you doing with that foolish mask on your face? You look ridiculous!" "How did you know it was me?" asked Fawn. "It's not hard to tell," laughed Spot. "Your face may be covered up, but the rest of your body isn't." "Oh," said Fawn. "I forgot about the rest of me." "What are you doing anyway?" asked Spot. "I'm going trick-or-treating," said Fawn. "Oh no!" cried Spot. "Fawn, you can't go trick-or-treating!" "And why not!" cried Fawn. "Because, in case you have forgotten, you are a cow," said Spot. "cows do not go trick-or-treating." "Well, … Read entire article »
